But I have already purchased the DVD, along with another one which is a great flick but will be banned as well because racism IS the theme of this movie. Lana Turner in "Imitation of Life". Definitely a great movie, and it faces this issue head-on. I do have the DVD but I recommend seeing it (very progressive for 1959) before they ash-can it to bury history. |

HBO Max announced on Tuesday it is blacklisting of Gone With the Wind (1939), and with it, Hattie Daniel’s performance for which she won the Best Supporting Actress Oscar of 1940. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 78478255 McDaniel was not only the first black actor or actress to win an Oscar, she was the first black person ever to win an Oscar of any kind, and the first black person to even be nominated. Other than Merle Oberon, who was both Asian and Polynesian, McDaniel was the first racial minority ever nominated for any category. Gone with the wind, roots, any decent revolutionary war or civil war movie. Any WW2 movie that is even remotely patriotic. That stuff is going to eventually disappear. I've also downloaded multiple terabytes of prepper books, military field manuals, survival literature. All of those will be gone too at some point so I'd suggest you all start collecting now before it becomes a crime to even look at stuff like that online. |
