Researchers from the University of Edinburgh tested different common masks by running a diesel generator (to mimic car exhaust) and piping the exhaust through the masks. They used a particle counter to see how many particles made it through the mask.

One important detail: the particle counter they used measured particles as small as 0.007 microns. That’s over 10 times smaller than the coronavirus particle diameter. We’re talking about truly tiny particles here!

explain to me how you remove a cornavirus infected mask without contaminating yourself or how you avoid inward leakage when your face muscles move and how you avoid infecting others when the outward air valve isnt filtered?

I wear a mask so that I don't have to smell OP's breath when I run into him at the grocery store. Just like OP doesn't believe that masks are necessary to combat COVID-19, he also doesnt't believe that good oral hygiene is necessary to prevent gingivitis, tooth loss, and to keep his breath from smelling like ASS. Subsequently, 6-foot social distancing from OP isn't quite enough.

I feel sorry for them I feel pissed that the powers that be have done this to US. When you see a grandma and her young grandson wearing a mask the boy not wanting to put his one all the way until they get to the door of the store I am sickened that the children of this world are subject to living in such a horrific time. Can you recall your childhood? Try and think how this is playing on the minds of the youth. SO We all are morons for not making this all stop.

I once worked for a company for 10 years that required face mask, hair covering and gloves at all times when anywhere near the product. And no, it wasn't a food product. It was raw/diced ceramic wafers meant to go in high reliability electronics. The purpose of the covering was to prevent organic materials especially spittle or hair from landing on the wafers and degrading their lifespan.

The face masks now worn for "pandemic protection" are really doing the same thing. Any intelligent person knows they are no protection against airborne viruses. BUT what they do is prevent spittle from spraying unimpeded from the mouth of a symptom-less infected person and infecting others with that concentrated viral bomb.

No, they are not 100% effective. Actually neither is the highly touted N95 mask. But they are certainly better at what they really accomplish than a bare face.

I do not wear a mask to protect myself. I wear a mask to protect you from me IF I happen to be infected but don't know it yet. I hope and pray that you have the same respect for me and my 86 year old mother to do the same.

Do you also wear goggles to prevent that spittle from getting into your eyes too?
