We are typical...living paycheck-to-paycheck. So by the time I save up enough to buy an ounce of gold, the shit could have already hit the fan. However, I can buy a case of greenbeans today, a case of corn tomorrow, and on and on. In the time it takes for me to save to buy the gold, I could have a pantry full of FOOD.

At that time you will be interested in one of 3 things.

1.Your own survival-if you are human

2. The survival and care of your loved ones if you have a heart

3. The survival and care of anyone else around you if you have a soul.

If not enough people have #3,we as a species won't have to worry about 1 and 2 for much longer.

Stock up on food and water and gold and lead and smokes and booze and bandaids,by all means.Just come to grips now with letting someone without die if you are only willing to trade and not give. I think thats how we got into this mess to begin with.

Learn skills or a trade... you can take it with you wherever life takes you. Of course, the respective tools of the trade would have to be considered.
