Re: How Screwed are We?
Ok...let's say this is the new norm. The entire world is now divided not by religious, political, racial, sexual, or any other form of ideology or class warfare anymore. Now we divided into 2 groups: essential and nonessential. Those deemed essential will inherit the world under the new world view. Those deemed nonessential...well, something will have to be done with us in order to move forward. What that plan is, is anyone's guess, but at our current rate, we are not sustainable and we are taking in more than we are putting out. Maybe this was the plan. Idk. Interesting times every day

No, I have been feeling for a while now that this is like another 9-11. They are basically setting us up for taking more freedom away for our "own good." This isn't going to change back. Line up to get your rations and don't you DARE go down the wrong way in a lane at the grocery store.

Pollution.

I feel this is about letting the planet heal.

Just look at how clean the skies are.
We are not pumping vast amounts of pollution into the atmosphere.
Bees are making a comeback(Very important)
Places we were destroying and abusing on the planet have mostly now stopped, A breather as such.
Wildlife is thriving.
Turtles back on beaches that would otherwise be full of people .
Less litter.
Less smog.
The trees can now breath.
Global warming halted.
There is less war and conflict.
Ozone layer recovering.

ETC ETC.

This "Virus" is giving the Earth a chance to recover.

Yes it is costing the human race lots of money but it is money that was made by exploiting the planets resources.

I can see these lockdowns happening every year for many years to come.

Maybe its not a "Bad" thing.

Im just chucking this out there.
I really have no idea whats going on.

Intersting times for sure.

We’ll survive this. There won’t be recession due to forbearance programs. Once things reopen people are going to spend spend spend. Heck they are spending their stimulus on electronics and household goods. Housing will go up.

Re: How Screwed are We?
I voted other.

I'm inclined to think it is going to get worse.

I enjoy seeing the people who are unafraid, and go unmasked.

This is a society of Pharisees. They are people who insist on enforcing regulations with threats, intimidation, fines, and tightening the screw on regulations enforced with law. None of those regulations are anything we have voted for or agreed upon.

As far as I am concerned, it is a terrorist action to even talk about forcing vaccines on people who don't want them.

It would be assault with a deadly weapon to try to force a vaccine on anyone. I think even children should have a right to refuse vaccines, against the will of their parents, because it is a life or death decision.

No vaccine has ever been 100% effective, with no adverse reactions. It means you may be killing or crippling any given person. Cigarette packs come with warnings. Do doctors give warnings of your chances of being crippled or killed, by the percentages? Can they show you testing results?

That is very bad, and I don't see any moves to get rid of vaccines, or to guarantee the absolute right of every person to refuse, without regard to race or religion. Would they target certain races for destruction? They have in the past. They experimented of blacks in the south. They've experimented on girls in India, very recently, and some people in India would like to see Bill Gates hanged. He probably should be hanged, but most Americans wouldn't understand it.

Regulations enforced like laws?
Jesus dealt with it. He and his apostles were having a picnic of unleavened bread, using wheat they had gathered from nature, or from a farmer's field. The Pharisees knew better than to try to charge Jesus with theft, because the law allowed for gleaning.

They charged him with a regulation that they made up. They said his people weren't washing their hands before eating, and they wanted to arrest him. He reminded them, as his apostles were making ready to fight with their guards, that there were more important laws to enforce. John would have been fresh in their minds. Jesus' friend had been arrested by the king for no crime, and then spectacularly executed, with his head displayed in the king's court, during a party, with countless witness, who would spread the tale to the whole kingdom. The Romans probably even cringed to hear of the spectacularly disturbing execution.

"That's the way these bloody Eastern Tyrants behave," the Romans probably observed. They decided they might have to destroy Jerusalem. Pilate had no respect for the Hebrew king, or his priests, or his people. Over their objection, he called Jesus The King of Israel.

So, there they had a bloody handed murderer on their throne, and they weren't moving to arrest him. What made those clowns think they could enforce the law.

Jesus sent them on their way like whipped dogs.

They said he had authority, which meant he was reasonable and right.

Our nation shrinks away from enforcing the law over the rich and powerful, and over itself, in particular.

Recently, it has stepped back from enforcing the law over tyhefts, shoplifting, and any number of petty crimes. But now, it is all anxious to punish people for meeting with their friends, leaving their houses, practicing their religion, trying to keep their business going and serve their customers.

Why is Hobby Lobby closed. For people who choose to stay home, they need materials for their hobbies: model trains, tanks, planes, and ships. Model cars. Basket weaving, picture frames, paint and canvases, etc. If you really want people to stay home, let them get the stuff they need to do things. Let them plant their gardens, work on their hot rods, etc.

They only seem to want to bully people at home.

Biggest meat processors shut down. China is tapping into their strategic reserve of pork. Locusts devouring crops across Africa.
We're in for upheaval that hasn't been seen for a hundred years.

I don't know if it was a planned demolition or just the predictable order out of chaos opportunism, but this past few and next few months is going to reshape the planet as much or more than WWII did.

Re: How Screwed are We?
My fear is that this is a preparation for war, as well as a way of handling national bankruptcy.

Either way, things won't get better.

You prepare people for war by putting them under stress. The Depression was a long preparation for World War Two. There was rationing, not because it was needed: America was flush with food and more beef cattle than ever before, but the government wanted people to have a sense of an emergency and solidarity in suffering so they would hang together and hang tough if things didn't go well in the war.

And they wanted the people very keen to go to war. When people are made to suffer and given an excuse, a scapegoat, some dangerous enemy who is causing the suffering and hardship, they want to fight it out and put an end to it. Even those who don't believe the government come around to thinking that giving the government the war it wants is the best and quickest way out.

It doesn't have to lead to war, but it seems to be going that way.

Even if it is only economic collapse and bankruptcy, those often lead to war, but in themselves, they are very disruptive. The whole country could sink deeper and deeper into poverty and neglect, unable to maintain its infrastructure, and morally bankrupt.

Losing its will to fight or to stand up for everything.

But I don't make my plans according to what I think will happen.

Kids write in chalk on the sidewalks that they think it will be alright. Sometimes they run around like Tom Cats. Sometimes they watch the world go by from their windows and cheer old cowboys in the street. Even as they don't entirely understand how their futures have been stolen from them, they hope it will be alright again.

How stolen? Well, the parks and skate parks are closed. They presume they will open again, but what if a very long time goes by and they don't? Even if they do, the government has laid down a precedent for locking people down without warning and making up any rules it pleases. Will the ambitious Little League kids ever be able to finish a season again? What about kids who aspire to be musicians, comedians, or performers in some sort of club or theater. How will they practice? Where will they be able to hone their chops in front of an audience.

How will people plan theur weddings or their honeymoons? Vacations?

People's lives have been reduced to second guessing what the government will do next?

"Maybe we can have a picnic this summer if the government will allow us?"

What if it's your last summer before total war?

What a pity if the government ruined your last hurrah, or your last possible chance to get together with your extended family, see the grand children, meet with old friends in your church and pray you survive the war.

Wear a mask?

I hate it. It is the Pharisees, the sons of Satan, liars and murderers, getting all up in your face - gagging you.

Has it occurred to anyone that it is a further symbolic assault on free speech.

It's a literal gag.

You'll see your neighbors and everyone gagged until it becomes normal.

Eventually the new rule will be: "If you speak up, you will be fined or arrested."

Don't think that wouldn't be just another small step that some governors will try, just to test the waters.

Can they get away with it.

So far, Americans have rolled over like a tired whore at closing time.

I make my plans with the kids in mind.

I'm working on things, trying to make them look better, function better, and feel better.

I can't do anything for a nation full of people who want to put their necks under boots.

But I'm also planning for what I will do if they try to force masks and/or vaccines on me.

I will walk.

And I will get a set of business cards:

" Have hands, will travel."

We?

If something has become blatantly obvious then it's that there isn't a WE any more, because the fucking lobotomized, extremely cowardly vast majority of people out there would rather get fucked up the ass every single day by disgustingly corrupt, morally bankrupt and dangerously incompetent swines in politics, government, lobbying, pressure groups with treasonous agendas, the fucking filthy banks ...

To these swines, every single day is an exercise in pushing the boundaries of totalitarian abuse of the individual a little further. Every single fucking day ...

Who's going to save their souls if they won't even save their own?

Like Orwell said, if you want to know what the future will be like, imagine a boot stomping on a human face FOREVER.

Re: How Screwed are We?
I needed some tools, so I went to a Walmart Supercenter.

Unfortunately, my two most viable choices, after work, were each at least a mile from the end of the bus line.

The one I chose was a little closer, so I took the bus to the end of the line, where it circled and stopped at an empty mall. Why not revise the route so that it terminates at the mall, where most riders might actually want to go.

But no, they drop you at a deserted mall, where all you can do is watch the tumbleweeds roll through the parking lot.

You have to walk a mile along a highway, where there are no sidewalks. The bus could have covered that distance in five minutes, a fraction of the time it usually spends parked by the mall.

Our leaders, who pretend to be so concerned about looking after us, didn't notice even that one simple thing.

How can we trust them to run our whole lives, when they can't even think about something as simple as a bus route?

I barely got there in time to find what I needed before the early close, and then it was a long wet walk back to the bus route.

The simple shopping errand took me 5 hours.

It's not an inefficient use of labor, multiplied by millions of people, it's a flat out economic loss.

They are so busy thinking about new ways to fine and arrest people, that they aren't running anything properly, and they are flushing hundreds of millions of man hours of potential labor down the toilet.

Can that end well?

I saw a flaming red rainbow last night over the Walmart.

It was sunset.

It reminded me of God's promise.

The only way to end the shut down is with a promise to never shut down again, under any circumstances.

If they don't swear it, people won't work.

Nothing will work.

Re: How Screwed are We?
This is a financial debt crisis. It won't be a slow and painful collapse. The entire financial system is going to collapse...quickly as the United States government/Federal Reserve interfere more and more in the economy. I think within the next 2-3 months, the entire financial system is going to collapse.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 71632887

I tend to agree with this. Then what?
 Quoting: CLYMER

Not sure, $10 trillion dollars of debt/inflation were used to nationalize the economy. When they sell that amount of treasuries, yield spikes. So the Federal Reserve will end up pegging bond yields (with QE Infinity).

You have a complete collapse in the economy of supply of goods/services, but increased demand with helicopter money.

So, hyperinflation in food, medicines, etc.

That's basically the end of labor specialization. The end of free markets and at hyperinflation.

....nothing good.
