Workaholics are just as happy as usual. They just work online and keep busy masterminding for the future and finishing up and planning new project for the "honey do" list. If anything, everyone in the family can't wait for them to go back to work and leave the house for a while.

Jealous?

Re: WORKAHOLICS: How are you holding up with having to stay at home?
My company has a work from home, work from work alternating days. We are considered essential, and my bosses have done a masterful job of keeping the work flow going and keeping us distanced from one another. It's a small shop, less than 10.

I love working, I love my job and the people I work with and for. I haven't had any issues completing work and am even starting on some data projects I've been "meaning to get to."

My issue is the upheaval to my groove. I keep a very regular schedule (military brat dies hard)and now there isn't one. EEEEK!

I have a little extra time at home, and I have devoted it to my garden and my chickens. The girls now have a playroom complete with dirt bath and swing. Thinking about building them a scenery town. Lawn looks great. I am trying to make a pattern for a Queen Anne sofa covering, (way to many curves). I have designed an experimental aquaponic contraption. I keep fish and am trying to make a closed system out of an old aquarium and some pvc.

My point is: I am only bored when I choose to be. I don't miss friends because I don't have any. I like it like that. I do miss my co-workers, but we are keeping up via cell.

We have cash, savings, I owe no debt. I am well-prepped since a bout of pneumonia kept me down for 6 weeks a few years back.
Scared the ever lovin crap out of me. Haven't been anywhere but work since Valentine's Day.

Having said all that, I don't think things are ever going back to 'normal'. I think things are going to slowly deteriorate. I am older, smoker, and will likely die if I get this virus. Sure hoping to be a survivor, tho. I know a county I would like to take over. =)

Sorry for long post. lol, and good luck to each of you.

I'm working from home, but it is all I can do not to go get another job.

Seems stupid to be home. But one company is kind of paying me to stay home.

Re: WORKAHOLICS: How are you holding up with having to stay at home?
I been semiretired working 3 days a week close to 20yrs now.....self employed with my own workshop....wife is furloughed but she has a "she shed" game room and I have my workshop.....no problems getting on each other's nerves.....I been 3D printing PPE for hospital donation and have enough prepping chores to keep me busy......

I have 2 on site jobs scheduled this week....that's about all I want to do anyway....

I also have a rental apartment to paint and do repairs.....my tenant moved out in Jan. .....no hurry tho, not like its going to be rented right away....

All in all I'm fine.....

I'm very curious about the social implications of this pandemic rather than about the virus itself.....so much change in such a short time.....I find it funny the new salutation is "stay safe"......new common phrases like social distancing and contactless.....

Interesting times....

How has it been for anyone who literally lives to work and works to live?
Has the wife been getting on your last nerve?
Did you send him to the couch?
Are the kids starting to annoy you?
How are you coping?

Fortunately we are both workaholics, so it’s all good on that front. Just wish we had more work to do. That said, my yard looks better than it ever has.

I’ve got so much accomplished during this shutdown. Cleared 3 acres, excavated out the stumps, graded the land, sorted the giant piles of rocks that came out now fixing the fieldstone walls around the property, planting grass and crops.

Ask how their husbands and wives are doing

My husband normally goes to Home Depot about 4-6 times per weekend

His hours are shorter

He goes LESS but has multiple projects going every day

And of course it’s driving me nuts - BUT nobody gets more done then him

They will have to hire three guys when he retires

I don't stop working. My life is no different.

I've ignored what the plebes have to do. :)

Everything is awesome! Way less traffic and aholes on the road too!
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 72514367

On the contrary, less A holes on the road but the ones that are still there drive 10 times worse than if it were heavy traffic. And ya thought the speeding bastards were bad before its now like every roadway is the autobahn !
Just passing thru.

I’m still working two jobs but my workaholic son was stood down. I don’t have to anything when I get home. Except cook. The gardens are immaculate and house is cleaned daily. It’s lovely. And we’re Australian so he is getting 750 a week stimulus until everything reopens. I’m liovimg it.

Cleaned the whole house, found out it has two extra rooms in the process and a cat, then cleaned my yard, the neigbours yard, their home, for a small sum i cleaned the whole block and the local Walmart also carryin clients on my back to their home if they dont own a car, helped the city hall to demolish two unused buildings and with those bricks i raised a wall around my district, i spend the nights training the citizens into using bows and soap made explosives, and now we are all prepared and waiting to refuse vaccination.hiding

Re: WORKAHOLICS: How are you holding up with having to stay at home?
my dad went to the emergency room because he had extremely high blood pressure and was fearful of having a stroke. he's fine. the doctor advised him to do the same thing i told him to do, which he didn't believe when i advised him, so i am confident he has a good doctor.

he also got a covid-19 test through the nose and is expecting his results in several weeks. i advised against taking the test but whatever i am quite accustomed to nobody taking my advice.

Re: WORKAHOLICS: How are you holding up with having to stay at home?
Im a workoholic but this covid vacation has been wonderful.

I started by pulling my 11 year old son from school. We set up a curriculum which was pretty intense with music, art, chores, workouts, Spanish lessons, math, science and all that. We've been having a great time. Throwing the football is on the daily schedule.

As the weeks went on he became more independent so I started some home improvement chores such as starting my seeds, planting trees and grasses. I then switched all my compact fluorescents over to led fixtures and bulbs.

I painted inside my garage and switched out the outlets and switches to motion sensors and timers, new cabinets. I built a pergola and stained the sections of my house that needed it.

My son is doing tremendously on his saxaphone. He can speak some Spanish. He's getting ripped physically. He can run my skid steer loader and helps me shovel gravel and mix concrete.

We are having the best time ever. During all this I've been sneaking into work second shift and keeping things moving along. And learning CAD.

MAGA!

I'm a workaholic that I can't work and it's maddening.

I'm an audio/systems engineer for live concerts and tour with A-list artists. I was out on tour when they sent us home. I was headed to South America after a week home. Then back to the US for another leg, followed by Europe all Summer, then back to the US for another leg, ending the year in Asia/Australia/Russia. :(

I don't know what it feels like to be sitting at home and we're being told directly by higher ups that we won't be working again in 2020 and Winter/Spring 2021 also doesn't look good.

I'm sure many out there who are used to travelling for work often will be suffering quite a bit with this whole thing. Mentally and emotionally I guess
