If air gets in and there's a spark, KABOOM. It's happened before at other plants. I actually did some work at the Jay paper mill about 10 years ago, those places are dangerous as fuck. |

Tons of pressure vessels. Pulp is cooked in a digester which is nothing but a big giant pressure vessel. And, obviously, steam requires boilers and pipes. So, there is probably a powerplant boiler on site to power the whole mill. Boiler do blow up when overpressured. Industry is unsafe. Flour mills also explode for the same reason. And grain storage facilities. I remember one in the early 80’s. Went to my college class at Kansas university and there wasn’t a cloud in sight. A few minutes after the class started we noticed that the sun disappeared under the clouds and there was this massive round cloud expanding over East central Kansas. Thought a nuclear bomb had gone off somewhere but it turned out to be a huge grain storage facility that blew up... creating a cloud that extended across the eastern part of the state. Grain dust. Kaboom. Have a nice day = GFY. GFY = Go Fuck Yourself. If this offends you then have a nice day. |
