This is the WORST part of all of this. Quoting: Anonymous Girl I'm sorry for your loss and that you weren't able to say a proper goodbye or comfort him. :( I can't imagine that pain. Yes, this is the most heartbreaking part of this. :( ~*Ride the Wave*~ |

Yes, this is the most heartbreaking part of this. :( My family, aside from my wife and her mom, are far away... I don't see them ever. It's been 7 years since I saw mom and dad. This is my biggest fear, especially since my nephew is sick now. I never knew any but one of my grandparents, and he was... NOT a nice man. Still at least him I remember. I am scared for them every single day, and grateful that I can at least help take care of my mil. ad ignorantiam - The assumption of a conclusion or fact based primarily on lack of evidence to the contrary. Usually best described by, “absence of evidence is not evidence of absence.” |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 47345121 Canada 04/14/2020 11:10 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | With a broken heart I share the news of the passing of my grandfather (papa) due to COVID-19 complications. My family is so devastated right now and we all need some prayers. Quoting: Simple27 Due to the current restrictions, this incredibly wonderful man died without any of us being able to be by his side. That part hits me the hardest. My nanny (grandmother) is shattered. They were together since they were 13 years old. They were just as in love now as they were then. They were the perfect example of true love. Nanny has been sleeping with one of his t-shirts while he has been in the hospital. A little history... Papa started having symptoms on Monday, March 23rd. By Thursday, March 26th the symptoms had gotten bad and my nanny had to call 911. He was taken by ambulance to the hospital where he was admitted and officially tested for the virus. He tested positive. [link to imgur.com (secure)] Nanny had given me papa's online patient portal login information while he was in the hospital which is why I have access to that above screenshot. Friday, March 27th they had to put him on oxygen and by Sunday, March 29th he was on a ventilator. There have been so many ups and downs since the 29th. Even more so in just this past week. But today the doctor said papa's body had stopped fighting and that they were going to take him off the ventilator as there was nothing more they could do for him. He said it wouldn't be long after papa came off the ventilator, and he was correct sadly. Papa passed away within hours. They said they kept him sedated and comfortable. Papa didn't deserve this painful, lonely death. He was 78 years old, mostly healthy. He has a great-grandson being born in July (my sister's baby). I just ask that you keep us in your thoughts and prayers. This is so very hard. Even harder because we can't be together during this time. :( :s27angel7: Prayers&LoveAlways |

I was only able to see his test results on his patient portal. I couldn't see meds they were giving him, but the doctor told us about the hydroxychloroquine. Getting info was not easy while he was hospitalized. :\ What did the doctor say about hydroxychloroquine? |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 78655220 United States 04/14/2020 11:16 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | So sorry for your loss, and the worst part with most of these cases is that the family can't be physically there to be with them as they transition. When my mom died years ago our whole family was at the bedside and she knew we were there, We told her we loved her and that she could go. She squeezed our hand and then went. It made it so special and I grieve for all the families that don't have that opportunity now. |

Quoting: Simple27 My 17 year old daughter was asleep when I got this terrible news and I had to tell her when she woke up. Awful. This is the first grandparent I have lost in my lifetime. The only grandfather we had ever known. So sorry. ~ The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants. Thomas Jefferson |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 76367089 That’s one of those unforgettable things you hear. Sounds like he had a great life. I think just to feel close to him somehow since she couldn't be with him. She loves him so much. When my aunt, who was like a grandmother to me, passed away I put a few of her dish towels in a zip lock bag, they smelled just like her house when I would walk in the door and I wanted to save that wonderful smell because it always meant I was safe and loved when I was there I still have my grandmother’s cut glass decanter that she keep her perfume in, she passed away in 1974 and there is about an inch of perfume left but it still smells like heaven to me! Our loved ones may die but we always have them with us ~*Ride the Wave*~ |

It’s very odd that he passed away but the people he lived with are fine. Did he receive an annual flu vaccine or any recent vaccines? Is there anything setting him apart from the rest of your family? |

Your granny ok??? I don't know. :( I guess it doesn't work on everybody. He was given it at the end of March. Nanny is a mess. hm. are you sure they used the malaria drug? maybe they missed a part of the protocol, like zpac or zinc? odd given the hundreds of patients is has worked on that have been reported to work within hours with zero deaths. was he put on a ventilator? |
