Judging how tiny it represents the Earth, where the heck is this supposed to be? It's a magnetometer, but again, where is it? I don't understand how it is supposedly maintaining out there.

Theres a spot in the vid where it shows a computer simulation of what the magnetosphere would hypothetically look like after the poles split.

Seems to me this is what we are observing.

So I will add here:

I'm a bit of a suntard myself, and I can honestly say I don't think this Anomally is being caused by the sun...? There is a coronal hole, but it's not big enough or producing enough solar wind to do something like this.

And there is no geomagnetic storm right now - KP levels are very low - at KP1 right now, which means no real activity.

Sun is entirely blank, no sunspots, and no flares. It does look like there was a very minor backside CME, but was not earth-directed. Which makes this all the more strange... what the..?

Time to do some more research. I'm guessing it's too early to have seen anything from SO on YouTube yet..? I'm sure he's going to be all over this.

I can't get anyone to tell me where this graphic is being generated from. From what vantage point? It looks just like any other artist rendered drawing to represent your "something". There is not a there, there unless you know what device is recording this, how it got there, and how it records and sends this data back to the tiny blob of Earth regardless of the condition of the magnetosphere. You know something that would very well jam and block and scramble that signal like a casette tape on a magnetic strip in a mall register back in the day. You see the problem?

Everybody needs to go outside with a basic compass and report back their findings. Also most smartphones have military grade (sub hunting) magnetometers so theres also some useful apps we can download to observe massive fluctuations maybey?

UVC and other radiation could be reaching the ground. Makes sense that flights would be grounded as much as possible. Not to mention the potential for cataclysmic solar flares/galactic waves/you name it.
