The ever-changing numbers/projections of infected and deaths

Lately I have been stumped by the numerous revised projections...(IMHE specifically, as well as Imperial College back peddaling, as well as many reports that states have already reached their peaks, etc.)

Here in Texas, I have both direct and second hand info from people who work at the CDC, doctors, school districts, etc. All of the info I received directly opposes what these "revised" projections with lower numbers reveal.

I have also been following Deplorable Recollector's thread, and he predicted that the MSM will begin reporting glimmers of hope, lower numbers, faster peaks, etc--meanwhile in actuality the numbers of infected/deceased are still increasing exponentially.

Long story short he believes (and I am starting to buy into) that the MSM is presenting us with false and optimistic numbers to 1) keep us from panicking as long as possible, and 2) to further whatever goals they want to accomplish. (IE lower numbers mean less ventilators given to various states, etc.)

Only time will tell...but this narrative that our social distancing is already having a significant effect on flattening the curve is utter ludicrousy. How simple minded and needing of instant gratification we as a society have become.
