How Gullible Politicians Promoted Global Economic Destruction And Threw Us Into The Abyss Of Serfdom

As the article in the OP mentions, there are areas that are facing an emergency, like certain parts of Italy and New York. However, the decision makers have decided to shut down the entire world rather than focusing on those areas of the greatest concern. Here's an article with some thoughts about New York:

The counter point is that the virus will eventually spread from New York and inevitably infect the suburbs, exurbs, and rural areas. But in Europe and here at home that isn’t what has happened. In Washington state, where the first-recorded American cases occurred in Seattle, the number of cases has flattened. Why? Well, as New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo has pointed out, the population density and public transit usage in New York City makes us violently susceptible to this plague.

We can literally see their tactics in action, first the NBA cancels all games for the rest of the season

Then celebrities and athletes conveniently get tested when no one else can and they are positive and strangely enough all of them have a PSA announcement telling all of us how dire this is and how we need to stay inside so we don’t kill our grandparents

The President should simply quarantine metropolitan New York City. If that's not strictly Constitutional, he can definitely quarantine the states of New York and New Jersey.

He can also quarantine metropolitan Detroit and New Orleans, or simply Michigan and Louisiana.

Then let the rest of us get on with our lives.

Aurora, Illinois, a city of 200,000 people not far from Chicago, has suffered exactly 3 COVID-19 deaths.

At least one of those was a guy in his 90s. I suspect that the other two were also elderly and sick, and may have refused aggressive treatment. (Advance directives often specify, "No respirator.")

I think the Governor of New York and the Mayor of New York City should be responsible for whatever happens in New York City. However, they seem to be part of the group that wants the entire world shutdown.

Just saw the rest of your post as well. I definitely agree with you that it should be a targeted approach rather than shutting down the entire country.

These Dimocrats have said they were willing to crash the economy to bring down Trump. Our lives don;t matter, these assholes just want power.

Agree, a targeted approach would have been so much better and it needed to be strict at first to try to stop the spread

Remember when Cuomo initiated the whole city quarantine, he still allowed people in and out of the area that doesn’t stop the spread of anything

The Politicians of both parties, by the time they retire have millions in their bank accounts, walled and gated estates, excellent health care, a nice retirement package and private security. Having truly become the modern american aristocracy, they are clearly not all that gullible, they are just all that corrupt.

The author chose the title of his article and it is what I put as the title of this thread. However, I do believe that most of the politicians are not "gullible."

I was thinking yesterday about the contrast between two Republicans: Tom Cotton and Devin Nunes. Tom Cotton supposedly saw the threat of the virus very early on. He is being praised by the national media. Here is what Tom Cotton would like to do:

The things the country must focus on over the next few weeks, he says, are building up production capacity for “rapid testing, respirator masks, [and] thermometer guns,” getting “personnel trained on contact tracing,” and developing “procedures and even laws at the local level for individual mandatory quarantines” for those infected with the virus.

Devin Nunes on the other hand has been ridiculed for his comments on the virus response. Here's something he said:

While saying it is important to understand how and why coronavirus is harming so many, Nunes told Ingraham Tuesday that the focus needs to shift to the economy.

“All American politicians and the media need to stop looking at death counters,” he said. “Let’s talk about how we can keep as many people employed as possible. That’s the key right now, Laura …

“Because if you don’t, what you said earlier is correct. When you have people staying at home, not taking care of themselves, you will have a hell of a lot more people dying by other causes than you will the coronavirus.”

It seems to me that any politician that chooses not to toe the line right now will be ridiculed and accused of wanting death for the masses.
