If it comes to it, do you want to be placed on a ventilator?

Respirators just prolong death. There is no clearing the lungs that are shredded from this biological weapon.

Shortness of breath in 5 days, death 5 days later. The end.

Hospitals are choosing who to let go.

Make your choices now. Get your house in order.

I've been going through the scenario of passing on everything to survivors. Realistic.

Many dependents will have to go through long probate processes because people haven't prepared their estates.

The ventilator to me is not the issue. It is the permanent damage it does to your lungs. It could be like having COPD, constantly out of breath. With no quality of life, if it came to it, I say give me the morphine on the way out.

I've prepared myself for death, so no.

If it comes to that let me go to sleep forever, better than being hooked up to a machine for the rest of my life.
 Quoting: Tatsuya

if you are at stage needing ventilator, you can just take a deep breathe and have someone press on your chest, or bear hug you from behind. you won't wake up.

Natural Selection. Not all people are suppose to live. We have way too many scavengers on earth. Like rats. Because living is easy.

Make living hard and only the strongest (most intelligent) survive.

Know who to save, and who to let go.

By the time you need a ventilator you're already in bad shape.

I think a lot of the covid19 cases are intubated very quickly because it helps save the doctors from getting infected.

Intubation itself puts hospital staff more at risk. I don’t know that once intubated you aren’t a risk for infecting people. They aren’t going to intubate unless you need it.

Just a ventilator or an invasive ventilator (Intubation)? Big difference.
 Quoting: Wookiee666

I didn’t even know there was a difference. I meant the intubation kind.
 Quoting: Freckle Face

I was under the impression that those needing ventilation were mostly on the non-invasive kind.
 Quoting: Wookiee666

There is a bag for emergencies. But ventilator means intubation (hose down into tracheae) and hooking you up to a machine.

Just wondering what others thoughts are.

Have you shared your wishes with a loved one or doctor?
 Quoting: Freckle Face

All of this ventilator shit was a brilliant part of this psyop. Most people don't understand INTUBATION which is fucking deadly. Most people put on vents don't make it and vents are used for extreme circumstances like brain injuries and post cardiac surgery where the heart may fail (and only then for a very short period like less than a day). They also require being put in a MEDICALLY INDUCED COMA because they're torture. They also CAUSE pneumonia. Intubation is not a valid treatment method for pneumonia. Antibiotics are and sometimes an oxygen mask. IMO, the ventilator shortage thing is a scam to launder money. Click on my name and read the ventilator enterprise corruption thread. If any unwell old people are being intubated for pneumonia, someone is trying to kill them.
In his poem Human Pride, Marx admits that his aim is not to improve the world, reform or revolutionize it, but simply to ruin it and enjoy it being ruined:

With disdain I will throw my gauntlet full in the face of the world,
And see the collapse of this pygmy giant whose fall will not stifle my ardor.
Then will I wander godlike and victorious through the ruins of the world
And, giving my words an active force, I will feel equal to the Creator.

Like other procedures that have been recklessly overused, intubation is sometimes demanded by families of dying loved ones. Families don't understand that it's likely to kill the kill the loved one.

And, yeah, there are ventilators and there are ventilators. The non invasive controlled flow mask are also called ventilators but you take them off to eat and talk. Intubation is basically life support for someone just about already dead.

Here's an exercise we did for a week. (me and the other more advanced shamans). Every time you go through a doorway, stop, think about death, and say aloud "I die now" and walk through the door as if you've just died and are moving on.

Do this for a week. You'll feel better about death.

Repeat as needed.

It is NOT an appropriate treatment for pneumonia. EVER.

If someone had a head injury or central nervous system damage, they may need it for any chance to recover because the brain damage can stop the signal to breathe. With emergency open heart surgery, where post op there is a chance of the heart failing, it's used BRIEFLY and the patient is unconscious. Intubation causes pneumonia and is very dangerous. It's only for dire emergencies and during general anesthetic surgery.

in our state, a Do Not Resucitate order is only good inside a medical facility.

we got a D-most, which is not a legal paper

but a direct medical order

under no circumstances is .... to be intubated, be defibrillated, etc.

it is binding on ambulance crews, firefighters, anyone. Inside a hospital or out.

only way to make sure.

I’ve had surgery, so I’ve been on a ventilator. I don’t remember it. I would definitely want to be intubated if I couldn’t breath. Dying due to inability to breathe isn’t a fun way to die.

a family member was on one for many, many weeks in ICU recently.

no memory of the time

if you can't stop it, don't start it. - old medical saying

they used the wrong-sized tube and tore his airways to shreds. Was supposed to be only for a day or so.

I told them he needed a pediatric tube.... they said leave the room.

took a repeat intubation only 60 seconds after the too-large tube was pulled out a month later.... big emergency... that tube lasted a couple more weeks

He did NOT need the tube in the first place - it was to make the resident feel better about putting a jugular shunt in.

And NO, he says never again.

Re: If it comes to it, do you want to be placed on a ventilator?
I did see it save my mom's life in 2014. She had said she never wanted to be on a vent (she was a nurse). It became a different situation though when she was struck with lung cancer in her late 50s, and the surgery to save her life required her to be put on a vent. She ended up agreeing to it, and the surgery successfully save her life. She is on oxygen now though and was not able to return to work.
 Quoting: Daniel Higdon

I think most people once they can’t breathe will do just about anything to be able to breathe.
 Quoting: Corporal Punishment

Please don’t worry about that. As your CO 2 levels build up you usually aren’t very aware of much and certainly don’t die gasping for air.

No medical team would deny you comfort care with morphine and anti anxiety meds. I’m 69 years old. I went to my doctor weeks ago and had a DNR signed. I’m good with dying.

I was a hospice nurse for a long time and have been with lots of people who have lung disease that contributes to their death. Truly not a terrible death. It is not painful. You can be sedated.

It is my understanding that they are venting people before they get ARDS, as soon as they can’t keep your oxygen saturation up, so you have a better chance of recovery without permanent lung damage. It’s not the vent that causes damage, it’s the lung disease.

The data for long term full recovery from ARDS (acute respiratory disease syndrome) from any disease and needing mechanical ventilation is not so great.

Chinese protocols for CoVid19 recommended ventilation earlier (before ARDS damage) in the course of disease to minimize permanent lung damage. I have not seen any articles released about how patients in China are recovering. Please, anyone who has data post it.

SO all that doom said, if you’re under 60 and in good health and you have a good medical team, go for the vent. If your quality of life sucks later, then check out on your own terms.

If you have a family depending on you I think you should try to live! It’s not the vent that damages you, it’s the disease.
Augie
