I read this somewhere. I guess I can understand that the healthcare workers are at high risk, as well as the other patients, but that's pretty drastic measures to try and contain the spread.

Intubation itself puts hospital staff more at risk. I don’t know that once intubated you aren’t a risk for infecting people. They aren’t going to intubate unless you need it.

There is a bag for emergencies. But ventilator means intubation (hose down into tracheae) and hooking you up to a machine.

All of this ventilator shit was a brilliant part of this psyop. Most people don't understand INTUBATION which is fucking deadly. Most people put on vents don't make it and vents are used for extreme circumstances like brain injuries and post cardiac surgery where the heart may fail (and only then for a very short period like less than a day). They also require being put in a MEDICALLY INDUCED COMA because they're torture. They also CAUSE pneumonia. Intubation is not a valid treatment method for pneumonia. Antibiotics are and sometimes an oxygen mask. IMO, the ventilator shortage thing is a scam to launder money. Click on my name and read the ventilator enterprise corruption thread. If any unwell old people are being intubated for pneumonia, someone is trying to kill them.

Like other procedures that have been recklessly overused, intubation is sometimes demanded by families of dying loved ones. Families don't understand that it's likely to kill the kill the loved one.

And, yeah, there are ventilators and there are ventilators. The non invasive controlled flow mask are also called ventilators but you take them off to eat and talk. Intubation is basically life support for someone just about already dead.

It is NOT an appropriate treatment for pneumonia. EVER.

If someone had a head injury or central nervous system damage, they may need it for any chance to recover because the brain damage can stop the signal to breathe. With emergency open heart surgery, where post op there is a chance of the heart failing, it's used BRIEFLY and the patient is unconscious. Intubation causes pneumonia and is very dangerous. It's only for dire emergencies and during general anesthetic surgery.

This question is pointless some none of us are currently suffocating. Good luck sticking to your decision now when you're gasping for air.

I don't have loved ones, and, the Doctor/RN I worked on a relationship with for 7 years to maintain hospital admission privileges, either did not call in my script or someone in the chain screwed up. Either way I'm OFF a med I maintained for decades, so ask me in three months when the shit wears off, if I'm still here.

The hidden info here is that the percentage of people that die might (or might not be) much, much higher without going onto the ventilator. Have you seen the people try to breath as hard as they can?

Please don’t worry about that. As your CO 2 levels build up you usually aren’t very aware of much and certainly don’t die gasping for air.

No medical team would deny you comfort care with morphine and anti anxiety meds. I’m 69 years old. I went to my doctor weeks ago and had a DNR signed. I’m good with dying.

I was a hospice nurse for a long time and have been with lots of people who have lung disease that contributes to their death. Truly not a terrible death. It is not painful. You can be sedated.

It is my understanding that they are venting people before they get ARDS, as soon as they can’t keep your oxygen saturation up, so you have a better chance of recovery without permanent lung damage. It’s not the vent that causes damage, it’s the lung disease.

The data for long term full recovery from ARDS (acute respiratory disease syndrome) from any disease and needing mechanical ventilation is not so great.

Chinese protocols for CoVid19 recommended ventilation earlier (before ARDS damage) in the course of disease to minimize permanent lung damage. I have not seen any articles released about how patients in China are recovering. Please, anyone who has data post it.

SO all that doom said, if you’re under 60 and in good health and you have a good medical team, go for the vent. If your quality of life sucks later, then check out on your own terms.

If you have a family depending on you I think you should try to live! It’s not the vent that damages you, it’s the disease.
