Like getting the "test", I'm not sure why getting ventilators is so freaking important. Save the money and get them a coughin err coffin instead. User ID: 24262777 United States 03/29/2020 01:43 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Years ago I was intubated for pneumonia. However, I didn't remember why I was in the hospital or what the heck was sticking down my throat when the woke me. It was a thirty day induced coma. As soon as they woke me, I fought hard and pulled it out, causing me further misery by getting a blood clot in my chest. They should have removed it before waking me. The nurses had the gall to excoriate me for pulling it out. I'd do it again with clear instructions in order to live though. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 77846190 You’ll definitely want to pull it out if you wake up and find yourself intubated. It isn’t a natural thing to experience. But it does save lives. I don’t get why nurses get mad at patients who do this. The nurses would do the same thing if they were intubated. There is even a saying that nurses make the worst patients. |

Quoting: Freckle Face Have you shared your wishes with a loved one or doctor? If you break a leg or have an appendix rupture you want to be taken to a hospital? (Or just take a drink of apple cider vinegar?) Yeah but you want to put them on a ventilator for a broken leg or a ruptured appendix. my question is "why would you want to do that?" What type of scam are you pulling, Wookie666? You countenance is a give away that these "breathing devices" are some type of torture device. |

Several years ago I developed serious complications after an organ transplant, including pneumonia. A ventilator helped me turn the whole thing around. It not only helps you breathe and supplies oxygen, but takes a huge stress off the rest of your body (including your heart) to allow you to heal on your own. I had it for about a week until I could breathe adequately on my own. Saved my life. |

This 85% figure is something that should be mentioned more in the news. Maybe most folks know it already but I didn’t know it. I guess I had just thought that a ventilator meant it saved your life and everything would be eventually be okay in a few weeks. Thanks for adding to the conversation. |

If it's gotten that bad, I figure my lungs will be scarred.. would rather just pass naturally at that point. We all die sooner or later. Being short of breath all the time would not be fun. Pneumonia is an old disease and in its latter stages you're in a coma.. peaceful at that point. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 77192746 I'm older, but if you're young, just do your best to use natural means to beef up your defenses that allows body to keep things from going severe.. User ID: 77436578 United States 03/29/2020 02:08 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | The ventilator to me is not the issue. It is the permanent damage it does to your lungs. It could be like having COPD, constantly out of breath. With no quality of life, if it came to it, I say give me the morphine on the way out. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 54547252 Me too. Was intubated in 2018 for a three-hour surgery. Took weeks to fully recover. I’m 60 years old. Never again. Just give me a triple scoop of morphine. |
