i was 1099 for a long time, until company switched to W2/employee....they canned me after a year..cheap fucks lol, right after i tried to take out health care through them...7 years down drain

Applicants will need to provide self-certification that they are (1) partially or fully unemployed, OR (2) unable and unavailable to work because of one of the following circumstances:

They have been diagnosed with COVID-19 or have symptoms of it and are seeking diagnosis;

They are providing care for someone diagnosed with COVID-19;

They are providing care for a child or other household member who can’t attend school or work because it is closed due to COVID-19;

They are quarantined or have been advised by a health care provider to self-quarantine;

They were scheduled to start employment and do not have a job or cannot reach their place of employment as a result of a COVID-19 outbreak;

They have become the breadwinner for a household because the head of household has died as a direct result of COVID-19;

They had to quit their job as a direct result of COVID-19;

Their place of employment is closed as a direct result of COVID-19; or

They meet other criteria established by the Secretary of Labor.

No it specifically mentions self employed contractors in the unemployment bill. The oilfield hires self employed contractors a lot because there is always of shortage of people when things get busy. Those contractors still work for a contracting company its just the company doesn't have to pay benefits.

I'm planning on applying. I have my own business creating graphic designs which I sell on various products. My main source of income is through Amazon and they just shut down the printing of these items and paused the platform to focus on essentials. I also sell on various other print on demand sites and they are starting to close up shop too as their printing shops get closed in the states in which they operate.

I wasn't expecting to ever be able to collect unemployment as a small business owner but I most definitely will be while all of this is going on.

I'm a wedding and event florist. I work from my home, self employed. My business came to an abrupt halt. It's heartbreaking. I have weddings booked solid all summer. The brides are scrambling to reschedule with the venues. I know there's probably no hope in them happening any time soon.
