The left arm is often more affected than the right due to the direction of blood flow in the body. Quoting: MissCleo Move the blood. That is why the wedding ring is worn on the left hand. Because it is more connected to the heart. Or something like that. Someone else will probably research that. |

This, in fact, may cause retention of the heat. [link to medcaretips.com (secure)] Yup. When I want to really raise my body temp which is sometimes too low I’ll take a cold shower. |

WHat happens to the body? I was trying to answer how my doctor would answer. Your reducing your temp thus making it harder for your body to fight off the infection. I'm sure there is more than that. For myself I am stubborn and just let the fever ride if it isn't over 103. If it goes over 103 I start tepid compress or if I can stand it take a tepid bath. I always drink plenty of water. I think it depends on how strong you are. Children can take high temps. Not sure about older adults like senior citizens. I would do cool compress first on head and now the left arm. Thanks OP about the left arm. Did t know about that. |

The correct answer is: Fever reducer - tylenol/ibuprofen + cold shower and removal of clothes. Ibuprofen is said to be dangerous. And cold shower will eventually raise you temp. Both will most likely kill a person. |

You will need to keep it moist, so that the phlegm loosens and can be coughed out. Otherwise it will harden, and then you can’t breathe. |

In many countries right now, if you have hight fever, you call the coronavirus appointment clinic near where you live, you get an appointment. The same day you go to the clinic to have a test done. You wait for answer. Max 48 hours here right now. Then you go strict quarantine. The reason for clinics is stop people going to hospital first. And they are many clinics. If situation is urgent, the clinic will get you straight to hospital. Now if you are in US and have high fever, you get your guns...... |

I read that the main cause of the death rate was of the first use of aspirin at that period to reduce fever. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 74034141 The fever is the bodies way to lower the reproduction of the virus so, the wide spread use of aspirin leds to wide spread severe cases and death. Yeah I read that are heard that but what was the reason was it high doses of aspirin and the toxicity? It's my understanding because it was a relatively new drug aspirin was used in very large doses. |

I find it kinda weak that we get teased like this about a possible life saver Ok understood... Dont mean to tease. The best answer here IS Drink tepid fluids (lots) tepid compress to left arm, neck head,re-evaluate. OK...Now why this one and NOT the others?? Sweet. and when we say 'left arm' do we mean the wrist? Wrist AND inner elbow... but the whole arm would be best. Why tepid (luke warm) but not cold or cool? Peepaws |

When the fever breaks, the person is on the road to recovery. Keep the person warm unless they seem too hot and fever is over 101-102. Then keep them lightly covered to prevent chill and give tepid liquids if they can drink to bring the fever down. If the fever gets too high you may have to use cold packs to bring it down as very high fever can be damaging on its own. I try not to use drugs myself. |
