darkness comes. stay indoors don't go outside even if u feel everything shaking. Intermittent fasting and meditation and your food supplies will last longer. don't be curious of what will be happening outside close all doors and windows keep your loved ones and pets inside. there will be no warning but many governments know and are stockpiling up food.

ions at what voltage?
ions is a broad term.
ions start at uv range and go up to xray then gamma then cosmic rays.
are we sunburned or nuked?
will my house paint be burned white or my metal roof be radioactive?

I think this is very close if not the truth. A space impact would warrant separation for Max survivability, would warrant need for ventilators and n95 masks bc of the dust cloud, would warrant martial law, world be the only thing all countries would work together on and the only thing worth letting the economy fall to pieces

Even if this is true you need to understand there is also a highly contagious virus spreading across the planet that is killing people.

maybe the respiratory symptoms of this virus is just the symptoms of what is approaching us. the closer this will approach us the worse the symptoms will be untill the darkness comes and going outside will mean taking a last breath and die.

I was watching Astro's show last night when this came to mind.
The dust tail curves toward the path the comet takes. The ion tail always faces away from the sun when the two tails separate.

I have no idea. But when the comet trails separate, The Earth will be exposed to the ion tail as it always faces away from the sun no matter what position the comet is in.

I'm trying to figure out what position the Earth will be in on May 25th as to what side will get the huge ion blast. If the Earth is exposed to the ion tail for 24 hrs, then I guess it really wont matter. CME's are one thing, but a comet ion tail blast should be magnitudes more then the average CME.

As the comet enters the elliptic plane on May 25th, Earth will be slightly behind the comet. The Earth will be in the right place to receive a blast from the ion tail.

The yellow arrow it the dust trail. Blue arrow is the ion trail. The separation between the two will be more pronounced when the comet gets closest to the sun. The ion tail always faces away from the sun.

While you're at it figure out how the van allen belts Factor in to this with their shielding effects

At its closest, the comet will be moving at 2 degrees per day through the sky in late May, about four times the apparent diameter of the Full Moon.

The best shot at seeing the comet is mid-May at dusk for northern hemisphere observers, as the comet heads towards perihelion. Unfortunately at its brightest, the comet is bashful in late May through early June, hugging the horizon at dawn.

Hyakutake in 1996 had one of the longest tails on record. The Ulysses spacecraft made an unexpected pass through the tail of the comet on 1 May 1996. Astronomers analyzing old data found that Ulysses' instruments had detected a change in the direction and strength of the local magnetic field and discovered a sudden large spike in detected levels of ionized particles at the same time.

One of the great surprises of Hyakutake's passage through the inner Solar System was the discovery that it was emitting X-rays, with observations made using the ROSAT satellite revealing very strong X-ray emission.
