So no lockdown. The idea is that because 80% will have mild symptoms, they will build immunity and the virus won't be able to spread to weaker people, on the long term. Quoting: R... This opposed to other EU countries that do lockdown. Theory is that the virus will just pop up again when you quit lockup, and you should keep that going for a year or maybe more and economy and normal life will be utterly destroyed. So NL is chosing the middle road, but other countries in EU don't. So far for a unified European Union. Won't this have effects in the long run? The virus could mutate in us to overcome our immunity and pop up next winter as an even stronger mutation. Other EU countries that did lockdown won't have any immunity at all, and casualties could rise even more. Thoughts? "Building immunity" against such a virus is really a dumb take. It goes like this: you die from it or you don't. If you do, you'll never develop immunity ever again. If you don't, you are not one of the people at risk the first time, so you won't be the next time either. Countries advocating for lockdowns do so to protect the healthcare system from being overrun like in Italy or China, not to have less deaths. Countries like UK choosing to let this run will pay the price heavily. Not in human lives, but because their healthcare system will be utterly destroyed. |
