Its not about stopping whatever is coming (in this context its assumed to be comet/asteroid), its about maintaining control.

They can never evacuate enough people in time without giving a long enough warning to cause panic, they will do nothing and simply let those in the firing line will die, TPTB aren't exactly our friends .

TPTB knew this was coming, and in order to remain in charge, they need to take control of both the food and the population.

How to do this without alerting people? In a world where there are already food supply issues (not well know to general public yet).

Release a bio-weapon, knock out enemy countries (China and Iran), spread it in your own country (USA and EU) via mis-management and bs.

Now "protect" your citizens by quarantines.

Personally I didn't expect asteroid/geophysical doom quite so soon, it takes time to get everything in place, I dont think its ready yet, but they seem to be actually pressing hard and really ramping things up, so who knows.

Currently beyond the orbit of Mars, the comet from deep space is falling toward the sun--and it has recently tripled in brightness, possibly signalling an explosion of dust and gas in the comet's core. In late May, it will swoop inside the orbit of Mercury and could become very bright, indeed.

The tail would have to be 0.9 AU or more - that IS plausible.

The dust tail angles off 30 degrees from the ion tail thereby plausibly intercepting earth's orbit for several days.

as the comet hits the ecliptic earth is 30-40 degrees behind the straight line drawn to make the ion tail (sun to comet and on) - that's in the tail area.

If that isn't another sign from God that we're entering the end times.
