C/2019 Y4 (ATLAS) - A bright Spring Comet?

It is never a good idea to predict anything other than the orbital motion of a comet so please take the following with a rather large pinch of salt.
C/2019 Y4 (ATLAS) was discovered on 2019 December 28. It has a similar orbit to the Great Comet of 1844 (C/1844 Y1) and it may be a fragment of a common parent body. It has an orbital period of 5500 years and comes to perihelion at q=0.25 au on May 31. The comet has been brightening quite rapidly and it has probably had multiple passes through the inner Solar System so we might expect it to be quite active.

It was around 19th magnitude at discovery (r = 2.95au) and it is already 10th mag (r = 1.95au). At the current rate of brightening the comet could reach naked eye visibility in early April and be negative magnitude at perihelion (although this should come with a big, comet health warning) although the elongation will only be 12 deg at perihelion. The current COBS lightcurve is here. It will be interesting to see if the rapid brightening continues into April.

ummm not sure if its the same thing , i can see a bright object , even before dark. IT seems to be brighter now but has been noticeable for a few weeks here in the UK .
Too bright for a star , i dont think its a planet ?

Night of the Comet

Typical behaviour from a long period, small perihelion object.
The nucleus has already been baked by the Sun at its previous encounter 5,000+ years ago when presumably a much larger comet broke into at least 2 pieces, that later return as great comet C/1844 Y1 and C/2019 Y4.
Stripped of volatiles, it has only become active now at 2.1AU when crossing the ice line.
I wonder if there are any more members to follow.

It won't hit. Now, smaller fragments associated with are certainly incoming now - but the main comet will just light up the sky - and a hell of a time for it, too! Enjoy the show!

Its not about stopping whatever is coming (in this context its assumed to be comet/asteroid), its about maintaining control.

They can never evacuate enough people in time without giving a long enough warning to cause panic, they will do nothing and simply let those in the firing line will die, TPTB aren't exactly our friends .

TPTB knew this was coming, and in order to remain in charge, they need to take control of both the food and the population.

How to do this without alerting people? In a world where there are already food supply issues (not well know to general public yet).

Release a bio-weapon, knock out enemy countries (China and Iran), spread it in your own country (USA and EU) via mis-management and bs.

Now "protect" your citizens by quarantines.

You now have achieved all your goals:

1. People are ASKING for the military to come and take away freedom of movement (i.e. rioting,looting,protesting,gathering against elites)

2. People are willingly hiding inside and not going out causing trouble as they are more afraid of the virus than the aftermath of an event

4. Elite can head to bunkers without being noticed, as they just say "being isolated as a precaution", notice the number of high-ranking people "getting the virus", or lately simply saying "being isolated", some big-wig in US defense, and a rumor the Prince Philip and Queen will too , straight out of plot of "2012", useless old farts getting saved on the arks.


Personally I didn't expect asteroid/geophysical doom quite so soon, it takes time to get everything in place, I dont think its ready yet, but they seem to be actually pressing hard and really ramping things up, so who knows.

I think it might be fairly soon, perhaps some bad meteor storms ahead of something bigger.
There will be off worlder ufos involved before it gets to critical mass. That will be a shocker.

The DART spacecraft will have a mass of 550kg, and will strike the Didymoon asteroid at 13,400 mph (21,565 km/h).

Smashing into an asteroid five times smaller with a spacecraft more than 200 times larger and moving three times faster should create sufficient impact energy to deflect the asteroid in the first such experiment for planetary defence.
