ITALY AND CORONAVIRUS DEATH RATE!!

Consider today's number coming out of Italy: 12.462 infections and 827 deaths.

If we calculate based on these numbers we have a 6.63% fatality rate.

But we have to consider that those deaths are related to infection numbers from days ago. We have the incubation period, then the patient develops symptoms and eventually dies. So the fatality rate IN ITALY is actually more than 6.63%, it could be as high as 10%, or even beyond that.


Of course there are other things to consider, such as the age of the country population. What I'm saying is we can't make assumptions regarding the death rate of this disease based on the current number of infections. And we surely can't think this is the same as the flu.
