Re: I Miss 1978; I WANT IT BACK AGAIN, NOW!!!
Here I am 62 and gonna retire, what I did back in the 70s put me where I am and now I m done...in more ways than one.

1978 ,,,March 4th started my career in my first job in the industry I will leave soon, I remember THAT day like it was yesterday.

June 16, 1978, I married...that was a Friday but the 16th was the B D of my best friend who should have been my Best Man but lived out of state.

Another day and night I remember so well....sigh.

Re: I Miss 1978; I WANT IT BACK AGAIN, NOW!!!
I graduated in 76, and that was my best year. After that, everything went downhill, I think I was getting 2.35$ per hour cooking at Big Boys. Around 78, the financial system started to fall apart with 16% interest on CD's with high inflation; Volker called it STAGFLATION. Plus, by this time, unemployment started to skyrocket and stayed that way all the way through the 1980's were minimum wage held around 3.35$ hour ( you couldnt find a decent job). The 80's were the death of the Good Times as things started to change for the worse. Unless you remember how good things were in the 1960's to Mid 70's, you have no reference.

Re: I Miss 1978; I WANT IT BACK AGAIN, NOW!!!
I was 14 years old, embarking on the PRIME of my life (which, thank GOD, I am still in) and, what can I say, it simply was one of THE BEST ERAS to be a young adult or adult!

I was an EXTREMELY PRECOCIOUS child, very much advanced for my age in both physical and mental growth. I was ALREADY getting served alcohol, in bars and liquor stores at age 12! Not that that's bad or good, it just was. I was already 5'11" tall then! I have friends who to this day still do not understand how I did it. Suffice it to say that I was a responsible kid as well and did not overindulge. I would buy beer for other, much older 18 year olds, since alcohol was restricted to 21 year olds in my state then, but not now.

I lived the dance era known as "the disco era," which as most of us healthy guys saw it as "a chance to score with chicks." That's why young men and old men alike braved the shaky social risk of actually wearing the correct garb, going to a disco-theque then, with one's girlfriend on their arm AND DANCING THE NIGHT AWAY.

It was a lot of fun.

I miss it.

Every generation misses it's heydey.

1978 was mine.

That's all.

1977 was my best year. Smoked SO much weed, saw Pink Floyd in Concert in Tampa Stadium, BEST CONCERT I EVER SAW. I met most of my friends for life. First Girlfriend, first date, STAR WARS! Those were great days.

tryin to put the timeline PRIOR to viewing burqa etc in our NYC streets
along w/messicans/hondurans AND their freeeekkin stolen bicycles chained all over the place...
as back then,
theeee only place YOU SAW burqa/naqib ( full get up)mosques etc was in nAtional geographic and as for these midgets and their stolen bicycles CHAINED--the NYC sanitation would have busted them up at the minimum-
yeah we had problems
but nothing on par with the deliberate destruction of our cities and nation.

rayciss ? LOL ya morans--ONE NATION etc.

Back on 9/11 Katie Couric mistakenly thought video from the Middle East was a man in a dress. Burquas were not on American radar at all.

I saw AC~DC in the summer of '79 in a small, cramped theater venue with almost no ventilation, SRO. It was filled with smoke, cigarette and pot and vomited alcohol smell. I kept retching.

Good Times!

August 26, 1978:

Imagine laying flat on your back in the short grass of the Mosport Park near Toronto, Canada. The cool evening breeze blows away the last remaining summer heat, while carrying the live rendition of a tune that far outshines the album version you heard so many times before.

To soak it all up - sheer bliss - and to fathom the true meaning of those 4 final words coming from that immense stage in front of you: "There is no loss!"

Mork and Mindy first aired in 1978.

Show is set in Boulder, Co. Intro show beginnings of yuppie lifestyle, feminism, eco consciousness/back to nature, gentrification (upscale neighborhood), multiculturalism (black kid), space travel/futurism, educated classes (classical music store). Depopulation also because hardly any residents in Boulder?? I never cared for Robin Williams so did not watch.

Anyway, now that the nostalia is completely over, time to get back to shitty reality with people like Dr False Chi and Dr Chris 'dead untrustworthy eyes' Whitty, and smarmy bastards like Bill 'fucking' Gates and the Clintons and Obongos and people Like Robert 'dull and boring empty slate' DeNiro and Mary Streep and all the rest of the demonic fuckstains crawling out of the haunted mirror slithering and sliding across our reality. Yeah. Back to reality.

I was only 8 in the ‘78 living the perfect middle class life surrounded by white people. We weren’t rich but our lifestyle was nice: we travelled and swam at a country club. I was a Girl Scout. Every week we went to a meeting center that had a special metal gate; once I went on a vision quest on the empty field next to it. I ate hamburgers everyday for dinner and milk with “instant breakfast” chocolate powder for breakfast. Halloween was big. My sister and next door neighbor boyfriend dressed like witches (maybe for fun)and my mom took pics with her Pentax of them seated at the top of the ladder in the loft room. Every day was so much fun, who knew how shitty the future was gonna be! lmao
