Quoting: Anonymous Coward 78458193 I have played this video over and over.... I was 15 in 1977 and I look back crying thinking about how far we have declined from then as people. It seems people socialized so much more. Now we use iPad computers to socialize. Makes me sad. Not natural.. it’s getting to me as I grow older. I lost my husband 7- years ago and the children have graduated from college.. they are lost as to what’s happening in the world. They use computers to keep in touch and it’s been hard for them and their friends to stay close. My prayers are for this younger generation. And for we who knew a better time. Amen to that beautiful lady! I am also so sad for the loss of socializing and how far people have fallen. We had such good times! Now the young people are social retards. They do not know how to communicate except by computer. I am lucky if my daughter answers me on instant messenger! I hate it!! I am sorry to hear about the loss of your husband. I lost mine too. It will get better, Angel. Really, it will. You have to have faith. But a good cry of happiness for what we had wouldn't hurt... |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 72310576 United Kingdom 04/25/2020 05:15 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I was 14 years old, embarking on the PRIME of my life (which, thank GOD, I am still in) and, what can I say, it simply was one of THE BEST ERAS to be a young adult or adult! Quoting: John Titor 911 I was an EXTREMELY PRECOCIOUS child, very much advanced for my age in both physical and mental growth. I was ALREADY getting served alcohol, in bars and liquor stores at age 12! Not that that's bad or good, it just was. I was already 5'11" tall then! I have friends who to this day still do not understand how I did it. Suffice it to say that I was a responsible kid as well and did not overindulge. I would buy beer for other, much older 18 year olds, since alcohol was restricted to 21 year olds in my state then, but not now. I lived the dance era known as "the disco era," which as most of us healthy guys saw it as "a chance to score with chicks." That's why young men and old men alike braved the shaky social risk of actually wearing the correct garb, going to a disco-theque then, with one's girlfriend on their arm AND DANCING THE NIGHT AWAY. It was a lot of fun. I miss it. Every generation misses it's heydey. 1978 was mine. That's all. Giorgio Morodor's "Midnight Express Theme," from the movie and also "Coast To Coast A.M.'s" theme, since 1989! Stop living in the past! Only the future can last forever! Only for the strong though! |

I divorced my ex after over 30 years of marriage. I would like to say I wouldn't give the ass the time of day. But then I wouldn't have my two children, whom I love dearly. So I would probably do the same thing all over again. Quoting: GA Girl Regret nothing. Be happy in this moment and you’ll see it was a great and perfect life. |

How old do you look today? about 100? in 1978 (the peak of American buying power) I was 31 and still being carded to buy beer. I was baby faced, so I don't necessarily hold it against them, but to think you bought when you were 12 is mind boggling. I don't have the time or the crayons to explain this to you. Slake Blake |

Such good music, I was in my early 20's and a total free spirit. I am happy with my life and who I am now - I just wish the country, the world wasn't so divisive. We have so much technology, so much capacity to improve everyone's lives, but - well, you know. Here's a classic from the era - appropriate for our current state of affairs. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 41584979 United States 04/25/2020 09:14 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I was only 8 in the ‘78 living the perfect middle class life surrounded by white people. We weren’t rich but our lifestyle was nice: we travelled and swam at a country club. I was a Girl Scout. Every week we went to a meeting center that had a special metal gate; once I went on a vision quest on the empty field next to it. I ate hamburgers everyday for dinner and milk with “instant breakfast” chocolate powder for breakfast. Halloween was big. My sister and next door neighbor boyfriend dressed like witches (maybe for fun)and my mom took pics with her Pentax of them seated at the top of the ladder in the loft room. Every day was so much fun, who knew how shitty the future was gonna be! |
