Id not trust a tiller mounted auto steering unless you are set up with directional alarms in your birth/pilot berth for anything more than 90 mins catties.

Only a 50km shelf there (30 miles) so you can get out of the chop fast. Bad area for high chop in anything over a 20kn blow. If it is blowing 30+ just stay in port or anchor out.

You are now within 2000kms of the galops. 1200 miles. If you do 60 a day you can be there in approx 20 days. Depending on the blow. Look at windy now and it is all over the place. Hope you have a self tending jib. Or perhaps a furled genoa and a yankee on a inner forestay. this way you can stay furled to about 60 and run with the self tacking staysail.

YOu need 3 people with you so you can run 4 hour intermezzos and rotate them.

4 on 12 off. this is a safe way to hand steer that big boat safley without killing all the crew with fatigue.

cash, gash, ass or gas...no one rides for free.

Pick the crew nicely so your not jacking off for 4400kms. That would suck.

All along the baja you will be following seas and running almost dead down wind. I would wing on wing and secure them with wiskerpoles or alike so you can no chinese jybe.

Be almost beneficial if you could go off about 20 degrees off wind so the backstays can rest lee on lee off.

winds are right on the nose as you come down south past say that acccapulco marina stop over.

there is a slight transition from horse lats to trades but its only for like a day or two.

mount a 1x8 8 foot long on your stantion base for fuel cans. Might be nice to have some extra diesel in case you fget duldrums...it can happen even there. Drill holes in in 1x8 for tie offs. Id want 6 yellow and 4 blue diesel and water.

make sure you have lots of tarps or old sail, so you can jury rig up a rain catcher.

water is your biggest threat....you cant run out.
