If the governor said they had already 8400 people under monitoring for CV, this thing has been spreading for a good while over there.

I hope so. Even if it is excessive based on number of reported cases at the moment, it will be a nice litmus test for us to watch how things go here in the U.S. when people's rights are restricted.

With 8400 admitted as self quarantined, it seems rather a no brainer that there are at least twice that amount who SHOULD be quarantined.

But I don't know where the largest percentage of the 8400 are actually located.

Not gonna happen. We are not China and we handle things differently. FEMA does not have the man power to lock down that many people. They will just implement mandatory curfew and then ask people to quarantine themselves.

Strictly my opinion, but this whole time, this has been a very slow burn. Sudden quarantine, especially of such a left-leaning region, would be like turning the heat up very high, very fast. Right now the official message is "don't panic, risk is low" and they are fighting to hold that line as long as possible.

Also, I think they know there is no real chance of containment. It's at least twice as contagious as the flu, and all world efforts outside of China so far appear to be for show rather than function.

So I'm guessing they will quarantine areas when the public expects them to, and not a moment before. And I don't personally think we're there...yet. Again, just my opinion here.

I think it is unrealistic for the US to anticipate a different outcome than S .Korea or Japan.

Both of those countries have top notch medical, but once their hospitals are maxed out, people that would have pulled through with medical support aren't going to get the help they need, and will do much worse.

The thing that is even harder to believe is that flights from Shanghai and Beijing to the us, and other countries are going along just like normal.
The wuhan people can fly to Beijing or shanghai and continue to whatever destination they want.

Partial quarantines do not work, and the time for quarantine was before sick people were within the perimeter of the area being quarantined.

It is akin to waiting until a house is totally engulfed in flames before you call the firefighters.

If true, when will King County, Washington be forced to go under quarantine? Gov Inslee declared the first State of Emergency because of the Corona Virus in the nation. We have fire department non-operable and firemen in quarantine because of contact with positive Corona Virus patient. A nursing home with 50 patients in isolation, ALSO this same nursing home had 16 college nursing students visiting there last Thursday and are now being screened. A school closed because a teacher exposure. A student that test positive that was in school at another school. We have quarantine site in Southern Olympia with new RV's in fenced lots ready for those who cannot be held in hospital or anywhere else. There is Camp Murray (military base) for another site and there is site in King County.

Heck, at the ER in Olympia (Saint Peter's Hospital) they bought a patient and (I guess) all rooms were full so they rolled her in the hallway and the firemen (who was wearing the N95 mask and yes there is a difference) told the nurse that she needed to be in isolation??? The patient just wearing a standard mask and coughing and was placed where people waiting to be seen were all within 50 or less feet from her. She was coughing heavily and after about 30 minutes, they finally moved her to the other end of the hall where she was a good distance away but I did notice that the nurse DID put on a mask and gloves before moving her in a wheel chair. I have no idea what this person has but clearly it must have been something that 1) unknown and possibly contagious or 2) showing symptoms of Corona Virus and highly likely contagious so why was she allowed near "unprotected" public? I'm keeping my eye on this hospital for a positive or admittance for poss Corona virus on 3/1/2020.

We need a thread strictly for Washington/Oregon/California Corona Virus tracking in my opinion.
