However, I believe that it won't produce enough O2 to sustain any respiratory efforts. I don't recall the numbers from my EMT days but, I do know that COPD and Pneumonia patients generally get fitted with a full mask flowing at above 6LPM or something. [link to en.wikipedia.org (secure)] One of these days... A *REAL* rain is gonna come and wash all this scum off the streets. |

"Electrolysis of water is the decomposition of water into oxygen and HYDROGEM GAS due to the passage of an electric current. HYDROGEN AND OXYGEN. Nice explosive. DON'T DO IT. ELECTRICITY … SPARKS. boom. end of story. |

Search for oxygen concentrator on ebay. Don't try to build this yourself. You'd best get on this, most of these are coming from China. When you are afraid of losing your life, you have already lost your life. Don't be afraid. |

Amazon sell some "oxygen bar" units for home use......The one I buy are rated for continuous use.....same ones the hospital and surgical supply use....ther are also online stores that sell rebuilt units..... Personally I think this is an essential prep item ......virus compromised lungs don't transfer O2 well.... |

Have them fill tank with oxygen. You only need a couple of breaths every so often to keep your oxygen levels up. Get a finger oxygen meter from drug store to monitor your oxygen levels. I have used this setup when I go camping at 12000 feet. Works great. I live in Fl and have heart problems but love to camp high up in the Rockies. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 77611324 United States 02/29/2020 11:39 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Question for practical people out there. Quoting: Pb-frizbee Say your hospitals are swamped. No beds. No ventilators available. No oxygen available due to nationwide shutdown. You need oxygen to treat your family or perhaps yourself. It's your last chance to prevent death. You have electricity, 12V. You have water and some pieces of metal. You can generate oxygen using electrolysis. How big of an electrolysis cell do you need to build to generate enough oxygen to keep someone with breathing difficulties alive? What about generating it chemically? Someone might need oxygen over the course of days. That means you need a constant supply of chemicals. Electrolysis would be constant, providing you can generate enough. Materials available Tin cans from prep store. Tinsnips. Plastic water bottles, various sizes Wire. Rivets/screws. 12V source Epoxy resin Let's make this! First question. What's a typical oxygen flow rate for someone being treated in ICU for breathing difficulties? Kill 2 birds with one stone, get some distilled water silver and make some silver collidoil. |
