I am so sorry everyone. I didn’t know that there were more comments on my thread. I will go flip the pictures I have and copy the mom’s status updates. He’s had two surgeries so far last week.

Give me about 1 hr.

Thank you for your continued prayers!

Re: Needed Prayers
This is going to be long BUT, y’all have been so faithful in praying and I didn’t even know because I haven’t been on GLP much and didn’t realize this was 4 pages long of comments! It warms my soul, GLP peeps REALLY are my interwebs family! You don’t even know, know me and yet you weee all loving me!

His mom has been doing daily morning and night updates for us. It is miraculous that she can even speak about it and her strength is a testament to God!

Accident happened on 2-27-20. I want to tell you about the love of a baseball team. My husband coached him and his little brother along with my two sons which are the same ages as them since these kids were 8 & 6, now 24 & 21. My daughter is 25, so when the younger boys were playing, Nate and my daughter were always on an empty field along with the other older brothers playing their own small ball game, so that’s why they ended up dating for 3-4 yrs, they were together 3 nights a week since they were 9. So after the accident happened, I’m sitting with my daughter at her house and one after another grown adult baseball boy filed in the house to check on her and to pray with us. It was awesome to see the love of a baseball team still going strong 15 yrs later!

My daughter stopped by his local home in Garland to see the grandmas. Both his grandmothers live with his parents so she was able to get more information which allowed her to finally relax a little. He can’t feel from the waist down. He has a broken hip, broken T9-T10, fractured T6-T8, a hole in his left armpit where the electricity exited his body that is about 2” wide by 2” deep. A full left arm burn. No burns from waist down. He has burns on his chin, his upper left side of chest, his upper left shoulder, his upper left and right back, nothing on his right arm or right back shoulder (more on that part when I share the status updates from mom).

Nate is a lineman that goes around and restores power after storms. He was in PR after the hurricane, he was in Florida after the hurricane and he was in Batesville, MS repairing lines from the tornado when he was electrocuted. His little brother was with him when this occurred and was the only one giving first aid until care flight got there, he is still in a bit of shock/guilt ridden over it because that was his pole he was supposed to fix but his big bro got there first. His mom kicked him out of the room as soon as she got there so that he could relax and start to come down off his adrenaline rush and start to decompress. It was very hard for me to hear him cry yell over the phone that first night when he was talking to us. I was team mom for those years and always treated the boys as if they were my own. Anyone who has boys know that not only do you have your own, you also have extended sons that you feel are your very own. You watch them grow just as your own, they’re in and out of your home as much as your own sons. I glad that he had other ‘moms’ he could talk to.

He was careflighted to Memphis, TN to the Elvis Presley Memorial Hospital, also the home of the Firefighters BurnCare Unit. His Dads first update is below after they arrived from their 7 hr drive on 2/27. mom wasn’t okay enough to write, I could not even imagine her pain seeing her first born in that condition.

Thank you for all the prayers, phone calls text & voice mails.
Please continue to pray for Nate, he suffered some severe injuries and right now we’re just waiting on test results and time to give us a more clear picture of what is ahead. He is responsive and in less pain.
God is faithful-My prayer everyday for Nate and Chase has always been for protection of their lives as they work in this high risk environment, and God has been faithful because this could have been such a different outcome.
So Praise the Lord with me for that!
To God be all the glory for His wonderful mercies.

I will post this now and do day two next with less on our earlier lives together as baseball families.

Re: Needed Prayers
Day 2 - February 28

Mom’s morning update
Day 5 of my Devotional this week for today is titled, “Trust, Faith in Action”. God knew yesterday’s accident would happen before we did but I will not lie by saying, I am having trust issues. Please pray for our Nate and for Drs/nurses and for all of us who can do nothing but wait and pray. We have felt a Love rest assuredly only God through His people could give us.

Dad’s evening update
Update on Nate
Today has been pretty much the same.
Several MRI’s are consistent with what was initially believed to be the issues for Nate’s current condition.
The day has been in and out of severe pain as meds increase & decrease. Conversations are pretty slow to medium tempo, for my musician nerd friends, 😊 but then turns to some dreaded groans as pain makes it’s presence.
We expect to hear from the neurosurgeons, orthopedic and burn teams to give us a game plan, but at what point in time? Still remains unknown.

Thank you for your continued prayers, thank you to Nate’s friend, my other secretly adopted son, Luke, for his thoughtful care and concern for our family in setting up a Gofund me.
Thankyou to those who’ve given, by other means such as hotel stays, private payments, the sneaky anonymous givers, you might’ve pull one over on us, but God knows who you are and we’ll all learn who you are one day, so you’re not as sneaky as you think...now you’re smiling🙂. Thank you!!

Continue to pray for Nate’s complete recovery, all of the medical team at Regional One Health, aka Elvis Presley Trauma Center, that have been incredibly nice and friendly to us. So nice, this evening a group of about 20 men and women crowded the small trauma room to love on Nate, the medical staff was loving the love and respect displayed by his co-workers for their team mate. I heard the words from many of them that every parent longs to hear about their sons and daughters. It was a beautiful moment and great opportunity for me to share the gospel with a few of them, all because of this terrible incident, but God Can and will always turn a bad situation into a good one.
Please pray for my son, Chase, he’s having some tough moments since he witness the incident and was the one who had to care for Nate in those critical minutes.
One last thing and I’ll close...😊 should I pass the offering plates now?🙂

I shared a verse with some dear friends on Monday that I thought needed it, and I decided that I’d start to memorize it, little did I know that it would be the verse that I would need to carry me in the days ahead. This will be my prayer for you too as you face your own challenges and circumstances.
Rom. 15:13 NLT
“ I pray that God, the source of hope, will fill you completely with joy and peace because you trust in him. Then you will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit.”

He said the offering plate thing because they are pastors of a church in Texas and they lead the Spanish service where Nate has played guitar since he was about 12 for the music service portion. He actually writes songs for my daughter and then composed them and records himself singing them to her, it’s sweet, then he sends them to her from whatever state or country he is in.

Re: Needed Prayers
Day 3 - February 29th

She didn't post and neither did the dad.

Day 4 - March 1st

I L❤️VE these people of mine! We are Team Nate and Team Jesus! We have cried tears together this week, leaned on each other, encouraged one another, worshipped together, read scripture and prayed. We have been overwhelmed with gracious gifts, people/family coming here to be with us, calls/texts praying for our Nate and for our family. You are a gift from God to us, we have prayed for each of you as you have reached out to us. God is our refuge and strength in our time of trouble. We have seen miracles, experienced an overwhelming presence of the Holy Spirit around us and we believe the days ahead to bring more Glory to God in this situation.

Praise this morning as we walked in for our visit and Nate says, I get to have Jello and Juice today(he hasn’t had anything since the night before his accident on Wednesday) and within minutes they brought him a tray and he ate the Icee like it was the BEST Whataburger(his fav) on earth. It’s the little things, you’ve heard it before but it is so true. Blood tests today and possibly the next few days will give the Drs the best game plan on when to proceed with the beginning surgeries and we will keep everyone posted.
For now, when you think of any of us, Abel, Karen, Nate, Chase or Caleb just pray. We need it and God knows our needs before we ask.
We love you all and are blessed, so blessed by you.

Never thought I’d be so happy to hear the word jello!

Later that evening, Nate texted my daughter. Then he called her and they talked for hours. I didn’t go by her house that night.

Re: Needed Prayers
Day 5 - March 2nd

The update from his mom was a song.

Day 6 - March 3rd

My devotion today is titled”War on the floor”, bringing your prayers to the Lord daily and consistently! You have been so faithful to pray and let us know you are praying and I just continue to ask you to keep on, Bring your
War to the Floor!
Nate has been running a fever, so surgery has been put off, though we haven’t heard yet today what they are thinking.
Chase was with Nate when the accident happened, so he does struggle with remembering and now seeing Nate badly broken.
Caleb as his brothers call him, is the Reverend as he is the one who “preaches” to them encouraging them in their walk with God has been ministering to them both during this journey.
Abel and I are definitely walking uncharted waters in wrapping our heads around the fact that this has even happened, to being in an unfamiliar city/ unfamiliar hospital etc
We are all hurting the same and in different ways as our roles in the
“V family of 5” are different from one another. We ask for prayers for discernment in decision making, physical/emotional/mental strength as we are tired and feel like we are living in the Ground Hog Day movie where everyday is on repeat.
You have been an unbelievable comfort to us, knowing you will Take your War to the Floor and let us know by sending encouraging words to us through here and texts.
We are grateful to get the updates out and know you will cry out to our Father on Nate’s behalf and on our family’s.

Living out my life verse Phil 4:6-7 has been a challenge for me to remember blocked by fear and anxiousness but I will continue to trust and believe in my Father who created Nate to do what He will do and we will give Him the glory!

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Song of the Day is Cody Carnes
Run to the Father

She is so incredibly strong! I just don’t know if I could do what she doing. I’m crying as I reread these posts as I share them.

Re: Needed Prayers
The one I really want to share is the best one.

I will just write it and share a photo.

Nate has bible verses on his right forearm, right upper arm. On his right back shoulder is 3 crosses on a hill. The burns came right up to the bottom of the hill and the rest was untouched. The complete right arm is unburned and the Bible verses are untouched, no broken bones, no anything wrong with those crosses or bible verses or the body underneath them. It was amazing to see Gods hand at work even during the accident GOD’S hand was on Nate.

My daughter and him got their bible verse tattoos together.

Re: Needed Prayers
When he went in for his 1st surgery on Tuesday, the ended up fusing his spine from T6-T12.

He was in incredible pain. Which was kind of good to here because that means he can feel lower than he could in Day 1. His hip was bothering him something fierce but once again, he can feel that his hip is broken. Which was more feeling than he had before.

My daughter and him giggled about him not feeling that he farted but that he knew that he farted on Sunday when he called her. He said it was weird watching them give him shots in his legs and not feel it. So feeling his hip broken means he might regain his bowels back and start getting the feeling back in his legs. If that makes sense. I’m not a doctor, I’m reading into the different pain he felt after his back surgery.

He was thrown out of the bucket lift he was in. But first was thrown into the edge of the bucket and that’s why his back and thoracic spine was in such bad condition, he then flipped out of the bucket and thrown 25 ft down and 40 ft out from the pole he was working.

He didn’t sleep well the whole night and go comfortable the next afternoon as the pain started to subside from surgery.
