Questions about what a worldwide shutdown will do
Anyone have questions that don't quite fit into an existing thread?

I have questions. I'll start.

If most people can't go to work, will they all wind up homeless because they can't afford their rent/mortgage? Is there a forgiveness policy here? A grace period?
Goodbye, halcyon days...

There is a theory which states that if ever anyone discovers exactly what the Universe is for and why it is here, it will instantly disappear and be replaced by something even more bizarre and inexplicable.

There is another theory mentioned, which states that this has already happened.

Can you look the big picture?

People not working, means no maintenance in gas, water and electric grid, plus communications.

People not working, means no police, no FD, no ambulances. Actually its possible that even trying to call 911 on a cell phone may not work.

People not working, means no goods delivered to grocery stores, no gasoline in the pumps and no parts to fix stuff.

If your worst worry is your mortgage, be cool, probably banks will just crumble into their own mess. A period of VERY BAD SHIT will go on for like a few weeks, maybe a few months. The survivors, will rejoice.

I almost mentioned most of those things, but I figured most of us have already thought of them, so I chose to leave them out for the sake of being brief.

well there was a time called the Dark Ages so just generally speaking the more oppressive the situation becomes the more like the Dark Ages it will be, just as a wildly general idea.

You can bet that above all, the government will work to ensure its own survival. If things are needed, it will get them and get them before anyone else.

China has 2 billion people.

If they lose 1 billion they still have enough to man the factories.

And there are less people consuming products so it balances out.

Depopulation isn't a bad thing, we just don't want to be depopulated ourselves.

Re: Questions about what a worldwide shutdown will do
My mom would tell me stories of growing up in the Great Depression. They lived on a farm so they always had food, life was good. But the women back that time had 8 kids or more. Scarlet fever killed many babies, not uncommon for women to lose 2-3 infants or more. And many time the parents died leaving orphans.

And life went on. Then WWII happened.

I have worked remotely for about 23 years now. I can run our company's full payroll remotely but if the crew isn't working there won't be anyone to pay...it's disturbing to consider and I don't think we'll go there but if I have to I can do everything from home. Now I only need to stock up on food.

As far as rent and bills etc, there will be a hold on all financials.
Last thing society will want will be mass riots over bills and infrastructure failure.
