Milwaukee: Student from China quarantined, monitored for signs of coronavirus

A student at Wisconsin International Academy is under quarantine for possible exposure to coronavirus after returning to school from China.

"We've pretty much restricted him to his room. When he goes out of his room, he wears a mask," Principal Dr. Matt Gibson said.

The academy has six students who went home for the Chinese New Year.

The student under quarantine is the only one who has returned to Wisconsin.

"We're not allowing him to go to school until we feel it's safe for him to go to school," Gibson said. "We have him isolated here (and we are) taking good care of him."

The school asked the five other students from China to delay their return to school.

There are currently no mandatory state rules to quarantine patients who may have been exposed to coronavirus.
