Amazon is not about 'deals' or low pricing at all.
It's about convenience.

I sell a lot on Amazon. (I have a store on Amazon selling my products) If someone walks through our door, I can sell the exact same product for quite a bit less. Amazon takes about 12% off the top of every transaction. Then, if your inventory sets too long, they hit you with storage fees. Plus, shipping and all that.

It's not cheap on the vendor side, either, and those costs get passed on to you, the customer.

I'd rather sell on Ebay, and I do, but there aren't nearly the buyers that are on Amazon.

For all the hate on Bezos, he's made a marketplace available to people like me that wouldn't have it otherwise. Gotta take the good with the bad.
