Ah, great. Went to the mega-supermarket today for Pepcid and the shelves were cleared out. There was also a lady filli g her entire car -- trunk, back seat, all of it with flats of canned chili. Masks sold out before we even heard about this coronavirus. People with relatives overseas knew before this hit the MSM here.

amAnd BTW, I just needed the Pepcid. People who need these things won't be able to get them before long.

The only meds that can actually help you with the virus at this point are the same as anti HIV/Cancer ones.Meds that help your organism fight a failed immune system.Taking anything else is useless and will prolly do way more harm to you than the virus does.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 78405411

would it stand to reason that people taking antiretroviral meds for HIV and Hepatitis C already have a built-in immunity of sorts to THIS particulare NovelCoronaVirus despite having a compromised immune system?

BTW, most people don't know that the HIV drugs are decades old failed medications for cancer cures. That is why people with chronic viral infections all eventually will die...the drugs were killing off cancer patients in the 60s-80s instead of curing them and the FDA didn't approve them.

Which leads me to wonder if this NovelCoronaVirus is really just weaponized aerosoled HIV virus that works in weeks as opposed to years to cause accelerated death syndromes?

The old line HIV medication claimed to work best is called Kaletra...it causes gastrointestinal upset/diarrhea and it is no longer a top choice for controling HIV viral load.

I am still not sure why lopinavir/ritonavir will work on NovelCoronaVirus, anybody care to elaborate?!
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 77735913

Because this is a "retro-virus" of sorts, it "hides", starts small and then bam knocks the wind of out your sails- It also possibly has HIV inserted in it-- which scares me, knowing what I know about HIV.

Went to Target this weekend. Pepcid and other drugs were sold the F out. -- even generic-- Either people have awful diets here, the supply chain is disrupted, or people here read GLP. I am in Louisiana, Baton Rouge.

We've had major shortages of Pepcid in Canada for months. I just saw it restocked on the shelves yesterday in Western Canada.
I was always an unusual girl. My mother told me I had a chameleon soul, no moral compass pointing due north, no fixed personality; just an inner indecisiveness that was as wide and as wavering as the ocean... And if I said I didn't plan for it to turn out this way I'd be lying...
Because I was born to be the other woman. Who belonged to no one, who belonged to everyone. Who had nothing, who wanted everything, with a fire for every experience and an obsession for freedom that terrified me to the point that I couldn't even talk about it,and pushed me to a nomadic point of madness that both dazzled and dizzied me.

Thank you.
Though not all would click on that link, it says that those PPI mentioned by OP can cause kidney failure.
Add the other two that the OP suggested and surely it won't be the flu that will kill you...

My physician prescribed omprezole to take with the Aleve (naproxen), for chronic back pain. Does the omprezole impact normal gut bacteria in either positive or negative ways?

One thing that really contributes to pneumonia it's from people that are sick laying down a lot, it makes it hard to clear fluid from the lungs.

Since I feel like I pretty much eat antihistamines as a food group with my personal illness, I would be afraid that if you give sick people all these antihistamines that are not used to it oh, you are going to floor them and they won't be able to get out of bed for sleeping. The way my doctor describes it, is that all the antihistamines break down into metabolites that are like vistaril, a major tranquilizer.

They might say they are non drowsy on the box and they will be, until they break down in your system. Then if you've taken enough of them, eventually they will zonk you out.

And you have to be careful because like if you take too much Benadryl, your heart can just stop. End of story.

Please don't think that because these drugs are over the counter, there's no risk.

H5N1 influenza, or bird flu, is a lethal and potentially pandemic infection that produces the massive release of inflammatory mediators aptly called the “cytokine storm.”24 Other more common forms of influenza also act by triggering massive cytokine releases that inflame vulnerable lung tissue. In early 2010, it was discovered that NAC offers dual protection against bird flu. It inhibits both virus replication and expression of pro-inflammatory molecules in cells infected with H5N1 virus, holding out the promise of effective protection in the event of a global avian flu pandemic.

I know things... this is not Uncle intel,...
I work in Biohazard remediation and mitigation for a living. I specialize in disaster sites where a large number of people have passed and ensuring the site is safe for people to enter. (Think Hurricane Katrina) Places where there are cadavers, many; rotten, festering, wanting to harm others. Places that have been underwater for so long that the very walls are lined from end to end with toxic mold. So I have a inside line to people and things I cannot elaborate on

xxxx,

The Corona-virus is tearing it's way across the world, and it is truly much worse than "they" are letting on. Is a big deal and I am afraid it may become a MUCH bigger deal.

You need to go to the store and buy one of these: Pepcid, Tagamet, Adix, or Zantac.
Buy enough for you, xxxxx, xxx, and whoever you want to save, enough last 2 weeks.
This covers your H2 antagonist drug.

Buy enough Prilosec, Prevacid. or Nexium to do the same as above.

This covers the PPI Drugs. (Proton Pump Inhibitors)

Lastly, I'd buy a big ass bottle of benadryl or generic benadry. aka... diphenhydramine.
This covers your need for a H1 antagonist.

You know what benadryl does. But the H2 drugs work in the same way except on different histamines. The PPI (Proton Pump Inhibitor) stops monocytes from going into overdrive. (Monocytes = White Blood Cells)
The Coronavirus hits in a similar way to the flu. As it is a "Novel Virus" meaning the body has never seen anything like this... the body goes nuts, to the point that your own immune system kills you in something called a Cytokine Storm.

This is very similar to a "Peanut Allergy", in that it's the bodies response that damages the person not the peanuts.

When to start this "therapy"? No need to take anything in advance. But at the first sign of "flu like symptoms" I'd start therapy. Take it as directed on the box.

You'll read and hear about it on the news. Obviously!
What makes this virus "The Perfect Storm" is that it:
1. Has up to a 14 day incubation period.
2. The infected start shedding the virus in as little as 5 days after exposure.
3. Is as adaptable as the common cold. Meaning that about after each 3rd generation, the virus mutates into something that would require a completely different vaccination.

We could literally ALL have this virus and not know it.

I'm not freaking out, I'm not making a big deal out of nothing. You can google everything I've brought up.

Now for the conspiracy theory portion of my presentation. Whether you know it or not. There have been SEVERAL recalls of various anti-acid drugs in the past few months. (Once again, you can research this) Maybe we knew this was coming and we have been stockpiling.
Yes, hospitals will give you prevacid and pepcid if you have the Corona-virus.
Just sayin'.

at least 17 hours a day reduced the incidence of pneumonia considerably...

heard that from another poster in this or another thread here recently.

Found an article saying hospitals don't have people lie on their stomach because they don't have beds designed for that and it's just not taught to them.

OP, I have been trying this regiment since catching a cold a couple of weeks ago. I have to say that the Prilosec does a great job in reducing a dry cough. I think there is some practical evidence that together with the pepcid and benadryl, it reduced my symptoms significantly.
