The newest thing being said is that this could actually be pneumonic plague instead of a coronavirus. Back in Nov. 2019 there were a couple of confirmed cases of this plague in China.

Re: I'm a microbiologist, (bacteriology) ask me whatever you want.
If this new flu doesn't kill people but accompanying pneumonia does, why don't we all just get the pneumonia vaccination?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 78310900

pneumonia is basically a symptom not a disease, like how meningitis is inflamation of the meninges, there are bacterial and viral caustive agents of pneumonia, but any respiratory infection that affects lung function could lead to pneumonia, if its a secondary infection cause by a bacterial infection for example then yes antibiotics could help.

would a viral pneumonia vaccine help against corona virus caused pneumonia, no i dont think so. i could be wrong though im not a doctor, an immunologist or a virologist.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 78344784

There are two shots - normally taken a year apart and they protect against different bacteria which commonly cause pneumonia infections. PCV13 helps protect people from 13 of the most severe types of bacteria that cause pneumonia.
PPSV23 protects against an additional 23 types of pneumonia bacteria. Neither can prevent every type of pneumonia, but they work against more than 30 common, severe types. One can only assume that the infections spawned off the corona virus likely would be included in these shots. But I haven't been able to find anything about it when I Google. I mean, you would still get the virus, but it is the pneumonia which is actually killing people. Get rid of the pneumonia and definitely up your chance of survival.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 78310900

Or maybe be lucky. (Bad Luck)

Never have pneumonia- ever-
Get the Pneumonia vaccine shot.
Be dead 3 weeks later from Pneumonia.

Without going off on a tangent, i never bought the idea that HIV wasnt introduced into humans by way of using simian kidneys as growth medium for polio vaccine culture in the 50s in africa.

It was said by reputable accademics that it was a conspiracy theory and disproven, but i 100% think big pharma fucked up and accidentally introduced simian immunodeficiency virus into humans, i cant prove that at all and it is speculation but i guess they'd be on the hook for billions in compensation, it would be worse than the tobacco companies liability.

For anybody not familiar with what im talking about, there were research papers (that were later disproven) that suggested that HIV started because a vaccination program in africa in the 50s used monkey kidneys to culture polio vaccine, it was speculatin these monkey kidneys contained SIV the monkey version of hiv, and thats how HIV started in people.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 78344784

monkeys used in the 50's didn't have HIV, it was Simian Virus 40, which causes tumors 40 years after injection.

HIV was probably from Dr Christian Bernard's immuno suppressants used so that heart transplants wouldn't reject the organs. Also used monkey kidneys and was done in Africa because US was illegal to do organ transplants at the time.

Long ago, when my vets first urged me to start vaccinating my dogs for corona virus, I asked if it was absolutely necessary, due my concerns about adjuvants causing cancer. YES.. I have seen many, mostly puppies.. it's really sad.. And has a smell all it's own.. It's survivable, but yes HIGHLY contagious, and good to protect against. I am not a fan of vaccines.

That's always the dilemma I've faced with fur babies. I'll say this much, where there are no rabies vaccines, rabies is a problem and it's not here. I had a friend who lived in Costa Rica and rabies shots were NOT required and it was common.

EDIT!!! Rabies shots were NOT required in Costa Rica, hence rabies being a problem in central America.

Yeah, it's a tough call sometimes on a decision. I do not vaccinate my kiki for FIV.

My reasoning is explained better here..

As with HIV, the development of an effective vaccine against FIV is difficult because of the high number and variations of the virus strains. ... It has shown 100% effectiveness against two different subtype B FIV strains. Vaccination will cause cats to have positive results on FIV tests, making diagnosis more difficult.

I'm sticking with Pneumonic Plague. Dammit. LOL
But I also suspect this is biological weaponry based on other covert moves and world events at the time 2nd week in December. Even the Pope was aware of the threat, Chinese woman hand grab.

Biological terrorism holding US hostage. The release was a warning. Corona is prominent but there is a secondary infection that will fall into the cracks and is more dangerous.

So Corona released mid-November. Mutated. Second release, different weapon mid-December. By the time Corona gets out of hand it's worldwide and a matter of burying the dead, no time for tests.

Corona is safe for MSM. Plague is a dangerous word.
That's my story.
So yeah, there is the Corona gene sequence footprint, for detectives and then there's the killer weapon... because Dr. Evil thinks he's clever.

China wouldn't close down if it was just the flu. There's more to it.

lol interesting!!

And although this 2019 nCoV is a 96% match with bat coronoavirus, genome sequencing can not tell the animal that the virus jumped to humans.

Unfortunately, genetic analysis can’t identify what animal species the coronavirus jumped from into humans. But an analysis by a team from the Wuhan Institute of Virology, posted to the preprint server bioRxiv, determined that the genome of this coronavirus (the seventh known to infect humans) is 96% identical to that of a bat coronavirus, suggesting that species is the original source. (Writing in the New England Journal of Medicine on Friday, another team of scientists in China reported that the new coronavirus is 86.9% identical to the bat SARS-like coronavirus.)

In his poem Human Pride, Marx admits that his aim is not to improve the world, reform or revolutionize it, but simply to ruin it and enjoy it being ruined:

With disdain I will throw my gauntlet full in the face of the world,
And see the collapse of this pygmy giant whose fall will not stifle my ardor.
Then will I wander godlike and victorious through the ruins of the world
And, giving my words an active force, I will feel equal to the Creator.

Are you still thinking this is pneumonic plague?

He did answer this earlier, looking at the genome sequencing, which I believe is up to 27 done now,

"So hypothetically speaking, if this is a bioweapon (i dont think it is ) its been designed from the ground up, to look like a brand new virus and doesnt show gene activity relating to anything known to be human, it appears to be a bat corona virus thats made a jump to humans."

I agree on the Pneumonic Plague.

I am not sure I understand that response, what I am saying is, genome sequencing has not pointed to that, at all.

If you haven't seen me post this, it will help you understand a bit more.

Some UNTESTED cases very well may be.. It IS around. But when a test comes back positive for 2019 nCoV, it is not Pneumonic Plague.

I've seen you say this around the forum, I'm sad to see you prefer to be stubborn.

But I am glad you are not in any agencies working on solutions. lol

Long ago, when my vets first urged me to start vaccinating my dogs for corona virus, I asked if it was absolutely necessary, due my concerns about adjuvants causing cancer. They stressed that corona in dogs was highly contagious and serious in that it could kill the dog. Did you ever come across a dog who had it?

thats a good question, i like the thinking here, i think corona viruses are dangerous to cats also.

Also.. you realize the Pope smacked another womans hand far previous to the "conspiracy" smack.. lol

Again the genome sequencing tells WHEN this started to within 30 days!! End of October to end of November.. before that it did not exist.

Re: I'm a microbiologist, (bacteriology) ask me whatever you want.
The best way to "beat" any bacteria or virus is to simply have a healthy immune system. All this talk of special nutrition and or exotic cures is just bull crap.

The human body is amazing, and can defeat anything thrown at it...if you are healthy and get plenty of sleep.

This includes everything from cancer to the common cold.

But, there is another crucial step to make this work. You need to catch a very low 'dose' of the intruder and then get plenty of sleep and water. Rest will cure a tremendous amount of ailments of this type. While sleeping, the body can battle the intruders, and with unknown invaders, it will take a little time to figure out how to kill this unique infiltrator.

The problem is, in modern society, people don't have enough time to sleep through an invasion. Jobs, family, and other needs force us to get up and therefore not be in bed. And when I suggest being in bed and/or asleep...I mean for a week; possibly more. Do that, and your immune system will figure out how to kill the intruder and from then on it will be easy to defeat that particular attack.

Rest, sleep, and water + a catching a low dose of the invasion works, but a sudden heavy dose of infection will overwhelm the immune system.

I guess on this thread we all have our ideas on how to deal with the common cold, because that is what this is, a super-charged common cold. The very young and elderly will have trouble. Everyone who is working too hard will have trouble. But just watch, some people will have no problem. Why?

 Quoting: ThirstyMarlin

As I understand, more than one type of virus cases the "common cold". However, whatever the cause is, the "common cold" can be knocked out with zinc. The homeopathic remedy Zycam, if taken at the onset, or even a day or two in, will cut the cold and severity of symptoms short and the cold is gone in a couple of days.
In his poem Human Pride, Marx admits that his aim is not to improve the world, reform or revolutionize it, but simply to ruin it and enjoy it being ruined:
