It has been demonstrated that nicotine can selectively reduce the inflammatory response in a number of infection scenarios Quoting: WOKE TOKE 78373924 [link to www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov (secure)] TAKE VITAMIN B-3, NIACIN, THE FLUSH VERSION. By controlling the proinflammatory response (e.g., leukocyte recruitment to the site of infection), an immunomodulatory treatment has the potential to reduce this tissue damage by preventing immune “overcrowding.” |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 78374125 Australia 01/23/2020 07:36 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Scientific American - June 2006 www.sciam.com Nicotine fights inflammation Well folks, I am a non-smoker, and I don't own or work for a tobacco company... hell, I am a healthcare worker and would gladly eliminate all tobacco products if I could. But.. that being said, there is a very interesting article on the benefits of nicotine for the downregulation of the cytokine storm that is produced in extreme inflammatory illnesses. The article describes in detail the anti-inflammatory benefits of nicotine and similar "nicotinic type" chemicals on receptors involved in inflammation. After reading the article, It made me wonder about the use of nicotine patches in the treatment of H5N1, even if only as a last resort. One of the reasons that I am considering this, is that pregnant women are at such high risk, due to the "cytokine storm effect" during pregnancy. Now I especially would never risk the use of any unproven medical treatment in anyone, let alone a pregnant women, but for all of us that have a pregnant daughter, wife, girlfriend, etc. would this be something that may be helpfull in a last ditch attempt to save their lives...I think I would consider it. I might even stock up on some nicotine patches in my preps. [link to www.avianflutalk.com] |

Why do you think I quit smoking but still taking nicotine/have a nicotine stash Quoting: Miss Bunny Swan It ain’t because I don’t want to be a bitch There are very serious uses for it Thanks for sharing, this is 100% new to me. I quit smoking tobacco 22yrs ago with the help of chewing tobacco. I gave up chewing within months of quitting smoking. Blazed cannabis everyday since. Last year I started doing tree work and those tree guys got me back into chewing, and I Fucking Love it. It had been over 20yrs since I took a dip. So far I only take the noob Camel Snus pouches. Basically a paper teabag with chew in it. Fuck it, I'm 40yrs old, have not seen a dentist in 23yrs, and I still have every single tooth including my wisdom teeth. My teeth are in better shape then when I wasted time at the dentist. I use very potent local cannabis to manage chronic pain from a car crash, and chewing tobacco definitely adds to the inflammation reducing/pain management effects of cannabis. One small chew gives me similar pain relief as the most potent over the counter CBD products. I have been anti tobacco for over 20yrs while blazing cannabis, and the wisest Man I have spoken with in my entire life told me 10yrs ago that tobacco does not even cause cancer. Self made Man that was an immigrant, and he was successful enough that he was able retire at 40yrs old. Just finished my coffee, time for a dip. |
