Stop promoting horses. They are way over bred for racing and pets and just end up turned loose or killed. Only rich people or people with ranches can afford to feed and care for such big animals for their whole life. Most are passed around every couple years if they are lucky.

Let me guess, you live in Kentucky and have a family inherited horse pasture with lots of grass and spend your free time going to parties about horse racing. The costs to you are meaningless.
