Iranian dirt is much harder than American dirt.

All relative to the speed of the crash. Some real crashes (not skanksville) have pieces smaller than fingernails. There was a crash in ca I think that was so fast that the dude holding up the plane with a gun was ID'd by a tiny piece of finger in a tiny metal shard of a gun part.

even if it was shot down there would still be some kind of debris. even if it's just a splinter. but there's nothing but an empty hole in the ground.

Thats the difference between an accident with pilots trying to not crash and pilots dropping the nose and full power into the ground.
