(KMTR) - The plastic bags at Ashworth's Market and Deli have been used up, replaced by paper bags. "Its a big adjustment for consumers and small business owners alike," says store manager Francis Vrell. It's part an initiative that bans single-use plastic checkout bags. It requires a switch to paper bags, reusable plastic bags, or reusable fabric bags. Vrell says Ashworth's will charge 10 cents for paper bags to offset their increased cost. Quoting: sseess It's just weird at the check-out stand. They ask you "Do you want to buy a bag?" But it would be paper and 5 cents. Think of the trees damaged! grrrrr...... Do you use them as umbrellas? Sometimes! I always used mine for my garbage, now I must buy them off the shelf and there are the same amount of plastic bags, so what have they accomplished? |

Found a decent solution. We're a bit ahead of you - our supermarkets stopped single use plastic bags last summer. What to use for rubbish? I did a deal with the local health foods store that has always used 100% biodegradable phyto 'plastic' bags, bought a couple of hundred for about 2p each. Very convenient for me and they're obviously eco. winwin. Can't think why supermarkets never used these in the first place.... All the supermarkets have accomplished is saving themselves money whilst virtue signalling. They don't give a toss about the environment or our health/convenience. Otherwise they wouldn't sell half the crap that they push. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 73148267 United States 01/06/2020 07:58 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Just another bullshit way for them to tax and enslave people. Unfortunately this bullshit bag tax law will likely be nationwide in a couple years. When they go passing these bullshit laws at the city level to passing them at the state level you know the day when it's federal law is near. Several other states have already passed this bullshit bag tax law. Anyone who supports this retarded bag tax law or any other retarded bullshit laws should be executed for treason. |

Communists have no place in America and should be deported or executed I don't disagree with you one bit. In fact I totally agree with you. However I think this country- actually this whole world is fucked. I wish we could kick out or execute all the communists. Sadly most people are either completely braindead and support this communist bullshit or lack the balls to actually do anything and kick out these communists ruining our once great country. Nothing short of a massive revolution- in which many millions will die will ever return this country back to the great country it was. That of course is if enough Americans ever grow the balls to do it. |
