Seems they're simply modulating the laser beam [call it 'voice-over'?] which when aimed at one of these MEMS mic's, subtly stimulates them to mimic a voice command.

The potential implications of this are very doomy and will no doubt spawn some writers/villains imaginations, eh?

Did you know bumble bee's can trip PIR sensors?

You need adjustable sensors. Most PIRs ignore small animals under 9kgs

All you need is a mic, transducer, potentiometer, battery..

But you need an IR laser (expensive) attached to a regular laserpointer for aiming.

The same installation can be used to listen to people in their houses :)

When it rains you hear drops interrupting the sound.

Getting the angles of reflection right is a black art.

That works when the animals are on the ground. If one of these warm, phlying phellows phlies close enough, it doesn't matter if the sensor's pet phriendly or not - as the video shows

Crap PIRs

Mine don't go off when I touch them with my warm fingers

Sounds to me like your sensors are crap if your fingers won't set them off ~ either that or you're cold blooded, eh?
