I have some in my acquaintance who multitask continuously - in fact it is more like constant responding, and so they are burdened and paralyed, and it has resulted in burnout and nervous breakdowns or heart problems.

Sleeping! Yes, we are actually always "awake" during sleep, doing what we choose to do. We do not just stay in our sleeping bodies. As see it, our motivations during the day continue during the night.

My mind needs it. I have to keep my mind busy and multitasking helps me a lot.

Yeah, only our bodies rest while our minds go places.

I am thinking about these questions myself at the moment with respect to the coronavirus in Wuhan. This is obviously very serious, with lots of effort to "contain". On the other hand, the Chinese report 23 deaths (for a country as big as Europe), and CNN laments that Macdonalds and Disneyland is closed. I would say it is a purposely planted virus, by those wanting to harm China, and that the same people are attempting to INCREASE FEAR on every level. The "negative impact" of the mass of fearful thoughts will undoubtedly have an impact ....

If one is always doing what others tell them under threat of violence, then what actually counts as a new direction?

That is an interesting question, Mr Robot. We can change some situations by making new decisions - sometimes these are large decisions like leaving a job, moving to another place, breaking up with a partner .... or small decisions, like speaking up, like sharing experiences, like expressing emotions.

Then there are other situations which cannot be changed, for example a close friend or family member has died, or a pandemic (I am thinking a lot about China at the moment) breaks out in your country, or the world suddenly comes to a standstill.

The "new direction" in such cases would be deciding to react in a different way, instead of living only the grief or panic which they provoke. Taking a new direction would be the equivalent of looking at something with new eyes, and seeing the tragedy as something which simultaneously brings out something good in ourselves. Crises make people work together. Death is only temporary, if we look into reincarnation. And if the earth stops turning, it will be because she is initiating a NEW START.

I find this a tricky question OP. I don't know what triggers abundance so I can't really identify something which is stopping me from experiencing it. Maybe I'm holding onto something which is stopping others from experiencing abundance so therefore I am blocking myself too? I'm not really sure about this one.

Yes, perhaps it is a "tricky" question for some. For others, it may be clear, or it may mean nothing at all. Everyone is at a certain stage of development, with varying degrees of experiences "under their belts", and so it is through these "glasses" that they will view any new encounter, and indeed, every new question .... In short, we will all have different responses to what looks like the same thing .....

What triggers abundance?

First of all, there are very different ideas of what true abundance is. Some people might say BEING ABLE TO BUY WHATEVER I LIKE. Others may say BEING FREE OF FINANCIAL CONSTRAINTS. Others might say TRAVELLING WHEREVER I LIKE or HAVING ENOUGH TIME TO DO WHAT I WANT. Others may say BEING CONSTANTLY LOVED or HAVING A LOT OF FAITHFUL FRIENDS.

Identifying what abundance means to you personally will be the start of traveling towards it, and being more conscious of when it occurs and when it does not, and why that may be so. Once a goal is set, we are more likely to notice when we deviate from it, or if we take decisions which take us in a completely different direction.

How can we set a goal? We can write it down and reflect once a day, or however often we wish, to see if we have made decisions which support this direction.

Regarding blocking the abundance of others. The gold rule is GIVE AS YOU WOULD LIKE TO RECEIVE, especially relevant where friendships or partnerships are concerned. If we enter a room of people and smile at everyone, and greet them with enthusiasm and kindness, the chances of making contact and generating a response are so much greater. If we say nothing and stay in the corner, very little will happen.

The words "holding onto something" can also mean "holding onto the past". Holding onto old ideas, hurts, and behavioral patterns - even if they may have been justified at the time they originally occurred or developed - will prevent forward motion and colour our vision. For example if a violent person hurt your arm as a child, and if you are incredibly angry as an adult with someone who grabs you by the arm, for whatever reason, then you are PROJECTING THE PAST ONTO THE PRESENT, and OVERREACTING in a way which is damaging to the present situation.

This is a wonderful question, Little Me. Thank you for taking on questioning mode. I have recently learnt to ask this more often when I meet with friends or family, simply because it is not always clear how they feel, and it is good to talk about things in a more intimate way. It also challenges myself to ask myself how I feel. Feelings are so important and are so often crushed or stifled. In the course of many "self-awareness" seminars, I have released much anger and sadness which I never realized I was carrying around with me. It is the same with most people.

the many many years ago where I realized that I had never lacked anything I truly needed.... and then I also realized somewhere in that time... that all the crap jobs I thought I went thru trying to find myself and purpose.. provided me a MASSIVE EDUCATION about this world. :Love to you 2:

Thank you for your contribution, ALL IS ONE IS ALL. This realization could help so many people, if they self-reflected and came to the same conclusion. And in fact, if enough time is spent really trying to get to the bottom of why things happen in our lives, and how they have thrust us forward on the learning journey, it is the only conclusion. Such a conclusion is so LIBERATING, even if the processes one has gone through to reach that conclusion have been painful.

To think this way is not to negate unpleasant experiences, but to accept that we have GROWN OUR SPIRITS AND MINDS as a result. If our main aim is still to GROW OUR COLLECTION OF PERSONAL BELONGINGS, or to GROW OUR POWER or to GROW OUR BANK ACCOUNT, then there will be little tendency to sit down and contemplate, for one will be concentrated on the level of materialism. Yet this will, in the end, not fulfill our life's purpose, which is to grow in wisdom and impart it to others.

I love your reference to the MASSIVE EDUCATION you received about this world, ALL IS ONE IS ALL, for without this massive education about what is actually going on here, how are we going to be able to change it? Thank you again fro your reply.

it was and remains very liberating... for some of that came not only from the crap jobs but years puttering in I don't remember how many majors in college... ... I must have at least 3 phd's by now from it all... with the experience.. obtained. The huge value is I don't put myself down anymore about all those choices... because it was all gifts.
