Many people suffer mental pain. One reaction is to try and avoid the person / the circumstance which triggers that pain. This means that it is never actually looked at. This means that there is no chance of relieving the pain. To face the person / circumstance head on requires poise and courage, but it will help to eradicate the cause in that we gain a new perspective, or hear someone else's version of the truth. If no reconciliation is possible, then at least one has tried. It is possible in such cases to go through rituals to "let go" of whatever happened, and to deeply and truly forgive. This is a very poignant question in times when people are looking for a saviour or a miracle to get us out of this global mess. While leadership is necessary, the best leaders are those who encourage their "students" and followers to become leaders themselves, and to go into action personally. We cannot simply sit back and wait.

The following question has something to do with this, yet it also addresses the fact that what we expect becomes our reality. If we are convinced of our own weakness and inability to change an unpleasant situation, the expected "saviour" will come in some form or another, but this "saviour" will probably - in present circumstances - use this situation to their own advantage, resulting in yet more bondage.

Another very important question. Many of our emotional reactions happen "on automatic", in the sense that we are often triggered by things we have not liked or "bad" experiences in the past. For example, I once know someone who always got upset if you made them a compliment, and I knew of a person who always screamed if you put their arm round their neck. In case one, the person had received so many compliments as a small angelic-looking child, to the detriment of other qualities he may have had, which were - in his perception - never commented on. In case two, the woman was always afraid of being strangled, as an attempt had been made in the past. Traumatic experiences require looking at and working on so that they don't influence our present relationships negatively.

Would you call yourself an introvert or an extrovert? Are you someone who immediately goes into action, or someone who is more hesitant and who waits in the wings to see what is actually going on? It is good to have ideals and high principles, and great to have visions and convictions of how things can be improved. However, if we are surrounded by people who do not share these principles and visions, and if we are in continual conflict with them, this means that there is more conflict in the world, as opposed to more peace.
