Pea Island is a nature preserve in the Outer Banks and April Lovin is a real person. You may Google her name for her details. My surname sounds no less plausible as hers and I spend time in the NC Outer Banks too. Until your military service has required you neutralize enemy combatants and invaders in the defense of your country, don't presume to tell us that have defended you that you don't support every shot we fired to eliminate that enemy. |

The millenials are ill-educated. And it's only going to get worse as most everyone is using computers now, even elementary, so give it another decade and they won't even know how to print! Today's young generation has already lost basic skills like car maintenance, simple plumbing, carpentry, cooking, sewing, etc. The next generation will have also lost writing skills. One good CME and we are back in the stone age living in caves and drawing pictures on the wall. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 76944367 United States 12/07/2019 11:46 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Here is a YouTube report of someone finding a film Quoting: TheOracle'sCookie canister dropped by European tourists filming a blizzard in New York City. Was cute...they dropped the film canister and a YouTuber found it! [link to youtu.be (secure)] : FairUSE: And...I guess people find "lost and found cameras" and post the developed pictures on YouTube trying to find the owners! There's a whole bunch of these videos if you like this kind of topic...I think it is pretty cool! [link to youtu.be (secure)] : FairUSE: NO SOUND...JUST THE PICTURES...LOOKING FOR THE OWNERS. Wouldn't it be wild if someone in one of these "lost and found" cameras/film canisters turned out to be a GLP'er? lol! O'sCookie Those were awesome videos! They reminded me of this one with a phone falling from a plane. You need to see how it ends. [link to www.youtube.com (secure)] There’s a video out lately that showed a guy losing his phone out the back of a white two seater plane. He was hilarious in the range of emotions he displayed on a rear facing video camera. Maybe the same story? |

Quoting: TheOracle'sCookie I've had a couple of "pen pals" over the years. One of mine from the UK sent me a photo of Paul McCartney with an autograph on the pic. It was a prized pen pal treasure for years until it got "pinched" by an old room mate. I had to laugh years later when I found the autographs were done by a MACHINE and not by the hand of any of the Beetles. Maybe if the signature were from the "real Paul" who supposedly died in a car wreck in 1966 and DIFFERENT from the signature of the "NEW PAUL" after 1966...then it might be valuable even if done by a signature machine. (Haven't ever seen that checked out in the many reports about proof on the real versus the imposter "Paul.") I miss getting letters and mail in the mailbox now...seems a lost art with the internet/cell phones taking over. There is no substitute for a real letter over an email...just not the same! Thanks for the thread, kiddo! Good stuff! TheOracle'sCookie This forum is the new and improved pen pall platform. |

(OP) I have heard the deafening silence. User ID: 74627261 United States 12/07/2019 01:30 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Oh shut up. Film canisters aren't THAT old. I was still using film a lot in the early 2000s....most people were. Unless you're a pre-teen you should know what film is. You got me to thinking... I sold my darkroom equipment (I could process 22 chemical step Ektachrome color film and Kodak 'Recording Film' motion picture film at home) and cameras around 1995 and went all digital after that. I have 95 GB of photos online in both Microsoft and Google's clouds for redundancy and 1,000 GB space in the Microsoft Govcloud that I won't use because I work for the Gov and I don't trust us. How times have changed. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 78069867 Today if someone did this the film canister would be poisoned with anthrax and a note telling the finder to "fuck off." ^Sad but true.^ The last time the Mrs. and I spent a weekend on the barrier islands of the Outer Banks, bales of weed were washing up on shore with the rising morning tide. Take your children back people. We owe them big time. Too late for our kids, but I got to my grandsons and taught them to read before they went into kindergarten, ruined them for the system. They are free thinkers with unbridled curiosity. He he he. |
