The medically pushed procedure (chemo) seems to be mainly a costly (sickness management for greater revenue), tortuous slight time extension of the inevitable.

People often refuse it and go naturally and faster.

I suspect it doesn't hurt to be aware of possible alternatives if you are among those who would refuse the standard "treatment". Nothing to lose.
