It's not that I think the soldiers who committed the atrocities at Wounded Knee should have been given medals. I just don't think someone who falsely claimed to be an Indian for academic benefit, who launched their political career on it, and then got caught lying about it, should get a pass when trying to then use Wounded Knee as a way to try to smooth over what it is she did. She might as well have squatted to pee on the unassuming memorial of the massacre.

Maybe instead of this transparent gesture of hers, if she truly wanted to make good, she chould take all the ill-gotten gains of hers and offer it to the tribe so that they can use it to build another memorial or upkeep the one they have.
