I'll send some feelers out to his friends to see if theres any new ones they want to play. Never be in a hurry; do everything quietly and in a calm spirit. When he turns 16 he can get a job and earn the money to buy the rest of it Go ahead and let him play in the unfinished basement. Maybe set times he can play down there. Life can be too short, and a little bit of noise is worth it for his happiness. Maybe there's something out there like a muting kit for the drum? |

You ain't seen nothing yet! User ID: 36974242 United States 11/24/2019 04:23 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | He has one. He wants to move on to a real one that he can use in a band. Hes pretty good. I just have to soundproof the basement before I get him one. I'm all for personal growth with music and hobbies. It will happen within the next year, just for right now it's not feasible. Take him with you and put a drum set on lay-away. He will be plenty happy. Kamala Harris is not a Natural Born Citizen. She's illegally running. Used by the Founders... Book I of The Law of Nations, Chapter XIX, § 212 (Joseph Chitty numbering) – “Citizens and natives” reads: 'The citizens are the members of the civil society; bound to this society by certain duties, and subject to its authority, they equally participate in its advantages. The natives, or natural-born citizens, are those born in the country, of parents who are citizens. As the society cannot exist and perpetuate itself otherwise than by the children of the citizens, those children naturally follow the condition of their fathers, and succeed to all their rights.' 1758 Emerich de Vattel Oh' What the Hell, do I look like I want to die in some nursing home one day... User ID: 78128369 United States 11/24/2019 04:36 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | My son usually always asks for expensive gifts. This year hes asked for a drum set. Which.. is NOT going to happen. It will eventually, but not until I can soundproof a bedroom in the basement. But that can't happen until I can afford it since the basement was flooded this past spring and I've been slowly replacing all the flooring and paying for the repairs has been outrageously expensive. Quoting: Brandywine He's a good kid. Likes video games, has basically all the electronics available. Laptop, xbox, switch, etc. Gets good grades, isn't a snowflake, not entitled. He recently found out he has Marfans Syndrome so he cant compete in sports anymore, so he's devastated about that. He cant even ride his bike until his doc says it's ok. I feel horrible. I'm just at a loss right now as to what to get him. I've gotten him his smaller gifts that I normally get. Pajamas, clothes, funny socks, but I always get one more expensive gift. I hate gift cards, they take no thought and are impersonal. Plus... I'm a female. When you were 15, what made you happy? Help! Research electronic drum pads with headphones. My son had a full drum set but it was very loud. He ended up using the electric set to practice. The prices on them can go from inexpensive to very expensive. At 15, he just needs something to learn on. |

His bio dad who isn't there a lot, and my husband, who is like his best friend who is always there. And if we are getting even deeper hes got two Grandpas who are involved in his daily life. Hes got a lot of men who watch over him and are great role models. Thanks though! You are correct, most kids dont have that and severely NEED it. Gift certificate to Nike Store or wherever he buys shoes (don't buy the shoes, let him pick them). Brazilian Jiu Jitsu lessons. It's a sport but doesn't have to be cardiovascularly intense. These lessons will serve him well for those rare but inevitable times when he'll need to hold is own. Dance lessons. I'll get hate for this, and he might not know these are necessary. But this will help him meet so many girls over the next 15 years. Web search "Chris Kresser Functional Medicine" and see if you can get your son an appointment with him. This guy will give you the real story on Marfans. Computer coding lessons. We know he likes computers, might as well spend time doing something on computers that will teach him to make money. |

I took him axe throwing a few weeks ago. While incredibly fun, he could barely see the target. Get him contacts. He cant wear them. He wears glasses though. They can only help so much though. With a +6.75 and +6.5 prescription it's the best it can get. Hes got strabismus, we are hoping to get lasik which wont correct the problem but may help with his prescription. Thank you! I will search him up. It's been eye opening since the diagnosis. Hes the first in the family to get it, but my father most likely has it, along with my grandpa who passed away young from an aortic dissection. He was 6'8". So most likely he had it as well. Anonymous Coward User ID: 50556047 United States 11/24/2019 04:57 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | That's actually a great idea! Thank you. He has a huge collection of retro game items. So many that I had to build shelves around his room at the ceiling so he wouldnt look like a hoarder. Think the 40 year old virgin as a 15 year old boy. 40 year old virgin at 15? Sounds like my son. Heck, I was deep into it with older women, girls my age, younger and exploring various fetishes at 15, lol. Even had fun with 2 moms! :) Man, kids today. They have it all, but don't appreciate it. I think a lot of it has to do with his Bio Dad. Hes got 5 siblings that he cant find because they are all by different women and his dad doesn't see any of them. His Dad only sees him because I forced it to happen. He doesnt want to be like him in that sense. He loves him, but doesn't want to repeat his patterns. I was young and dumb. You're still dumb if you're coming to glp for gift advice. Just not so young. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 71088931 United States 11/24/2019 05:03 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Most music is electronic now. Get him an electronic drum set that uses sticks, and a good headset, so only he hears himself. He can get awesome, until next year or whenever you can help him get a set. It’s great for the brain. CRAP! Just looked it up, a good cheap set is $800! That will go in the ‘think about it’ pile. Legos, boys love legos! |
