Having read the comments, I guess where the President is going is next door to Shreveport, but still, it seems like a sort of tradition that the Police and First Responders in the surrounding areas help each other out if there's an event happening or some other sort of emergency.

By telling them that they can't assist at least in uniform, they are being told that they can do it on a voluntary basis but they won't get any pay or overtime for it, which sort of sucks, BIG TIME!! Meanwhile, people will be traveling through and from the Shreveport area going to and from the Rally. So what about THEM, Mr. Mayor? Don't they deserve to be safe on the roads?

Sounds like "pitchforks-and-torches" time!
