I like ssd for operating systems and video rendering files, then save everything on externals. Took an old I3 laptop, doubled the ram to 8, installed a SSD, upgraded to an I7 998 cpu, and it will smoke most modern machines on video rendering speeds. Cost less than $100 to do all the upgrades. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 37275319 Canada 11/07/2019 01:02 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | In 2009, I bought my first external hard drive, a Seagate 1TB and it cost, I recall, around $300. Have purchased bigger & bigger drives since & today bought my 5th external hard drive, to keep all my important documentations of things, especially stuff I keep from here on GLP, etc. I cannot believe costco is selling them for around $100. Unreal. EIGHT TERABYTES! Quoting: John Titor 911 Proceed. Why not just design a comp with no need for an external hard drive EVER? nope, the only peeps who would use it are those who never create files and that already exists, it's call ipads and tablets, and for those who do create files where do you expect to keep the data? in the olden days file backup was on floppy disks |
