Hard Rock Hotel Crane Implosion Today Between Noon and 5pm

Man those cranes are worth a lot of money. Damn, for it all to just come crashing down into a rubble heap is disheartening for the owners of the cranes.

Will the insurance company pay for their destruction?

The local newspaper has the audacity to put up pay walls to read stories or view details. I bitched to the governor and some other local media about it. There ought to be a law.

This is what the internet has become, a pay to play convenience. I keep saying "one more month" before I ditch At&Shits but here I am, mostly to access GLP dailiyM and other rags. Billions of websites and I can't find alternative places to be.

We should all be limiting our online time to 3 hours and doing it at the library, where indeed what is free information is still free.

The concept of selling for money what is available for free is fueled solely by ignorance and slavery. We are paying ridiculous money so big wig dinos can live in GNORMOUS Castles while they prepare us to eat insects.

If we weren't all so either busy, depessed, fat or lazy this wouldn't be reality. Nor would the grids, nor anything would be done as it is. Sad world as it is, it could change, but that's not likley.

You just do what you can to bring and create beauty and not ugliness.

The two cranes will be imploded today, around noon. A local tv station is streaming a view of the hotel.

Two giant, badly damaged construction cranes towering over a partially collapsed hotel project are to be demolished Saturday with a series of controlled explosions in hopes of dropping them straight down without damaging nearby businesses and historic buildings around the site at the edge of the French Quarter.

New Orleans Fire Department Superintendent Tim McConnell described a plan involving workers suspended from another crane using blow torches and attaching explosives at key points. One of the crane towers is about 270 feet high, the other is taller. Both have massive cross arms adding more tonnage. Neither is stable.

McConnell said an already wide evacuation area around the site would be expanded ahead of the explosion. Gas to a major utility line that runs along North Rampart Street was being shut down and steps were being taken to protect that line and underground electrical lines that could be affected by falling debris. McConnell said the line would be severely damaged were a crane to land on it.

If the operation is successful, McConnell said, the towers will drop vertically and simultaneously. "Think of it like it's melting," he told reporters.

I still don't have a good feeling about this...that crane on the left looks like it's shifted and is tilting away from the hard rock building now.
