I think it's fare more likely that she will end up on the eventual ticket. They are polling her low deliberately and keeping her outside of serious scrutiny for a reason.

Her being supposedly at odds with the Democrats may be a carefully orchestrated ruse, because their internal polling shows that they are hated by most of the American people. Therefore, if they are going to have a shot at all in the upcoming election, then they are going to have to seemingly pull an upset by a rogue, darkhorse candidate that is supposedly at odds with the party apparatchiks, when it is the people those apparatchiks answer to calling the play. It would also explain while the Democratic field is so piss poor. One of these things is not like the others.
