Sesame Street Tackles Opioid Crisis with Character Whose Mother Struggles with Addiction
The enduring children’s show Sesame Street is tackling the opioid crisis with a character whose mother is struggling with an addiction.

Sesame Workshop, which is behind the show, said the new initiative features Karli, a six-and-a-half year-old Sesame Street Muppet “whose mom is dealing with addiction.”

The organization didn’t specify the nature of the character’s health problems, saying only that the issue will be explored through an ongoing series of videos and other content.

Using the story of Karli, a 6 ½ year old Muppet whose mom is struggling with addiction, we have created resources to offer hope and optimism to children and families facing similar challenges.

I know it's a children's show, but anyway to reach people who have this problem isn't bad.

Christians say, "Give me a child until they're seven and they will never leave what they're taught."

Maybe talking to kids about opiates and meth is what is needed to deal with this scourge. There are dealers using elementary children to deal to their friends and it's high time normal people started realizing what's going on and did something about it. Even making the police aware that some kids are selling contraband will burn a few dealers.
