I would love to raise chickens. My kids just bought a house with a half acre of land, and I think they're going to get some chickens, once they get settled.

I only buy organic eggs now, because....they're EGGS.

Something about eating a Frankensteined egg freaks me out, ya know?

We moved out to the country two years ago but I just got aorund to overhauling the old coop up by the pond and got myself 10 layers. We have electricity up there but no plumping, dang it.

So I just set up a pump from my pond to a big rain barrel for winter (and year round) watering for my ladies. The rain barrel has a stock tank heater in it to keep the water from freezing. Once it snows there's no way I'll be able to get the lawn mower and trailer up there, which is how I get water up there now.

They free range during the day and head for the coop at dusk and I love my eggs! This country living thing has been my dream for nearly two decades and I'm love it!

If it walks like a chicken and clucks like a chicken it must be a duck...
or something like that.

Wow!....heh, that reminds me of that video of the kitten who clearly showed self awareness by seeing itself in the mirror....it even swiped at it's ear, watching itself. You could see the surprised look on its kitteh face.

This little puppy is going to grow up thinking it's a chicken, harhar.

I have a little over 60 chickens a (few) chicks that hatched, 4 rooster full sized,1 bantam rooster that showed up one day and 2 tom turkeys.

Do you sell the eggs?....you've got to have too many, unless you have a full load household.
