Quoting: Louis in Richmond That could happen. Ejection seats are equipped with a 3/4" tubular nylon webbing for a tree letdown. If the high tension wire is high voltage the preferred letdown would be to not drop that rope to the ground. Do a letdown to about 5 feet off the ground. Stop. Cut the rope just above the pilot. Free fall to the ground without a potential conductive rope taking electricity through the pilot. The rope would be for lessening the falling distance but not for electrocuting the parachutist.
