Quoting: Anonymous Coward 73848670 I could say the same thing about an "Anonymous Coward" trying to downplay something they just don't understand. It's fear mongering on a different level. It's incredibly easy to make a person look crazy and people like you inadvertently perpetuate the idea that a person accused of a mental problem shouldn't be taken serious. It's the whole reason why people doing this want those they're assaulting to be diagnosed with a mental disorder. Take, for example, the rapist/ kidnapper that forces their victim to use drugs before they assault them or the cult leader, Charles Manson, that makes their follower use an excess amount of drugs. They do it so that their testimony holds very little, if any, weight. A cop shows up at an accused sex offenders house, he accuses the victim of just being a junkie. The guy in this link told the cops that he was "her" sex slave. [link to www.cleveland.com (secure)] Charles Manson purposely had his followers use an excess amount of drugs and when it came time for one of the followers to testify against him, she was sent to a mental hospital for nine months because of the amount of LSD she had taken while following him. I've chosen a different approach to all of this, though. If people don't want to believe what's happening then maybe they should just be shown what we "can" prove. I've posted this a few times with very little attention, but here it is again. Woody Norris on "Hypersonic Sound" and the "Audio Spotlight." [link to www.ted.com (secure)] Perhaps things in this world would be better if we learned to put a shield around those that ask for our help rather than passing them off on someone else when they do. Mental patients don't usually try to unite and those that suffer from this are reaching out for someone to rescue them. |
