bf has no money but wont let me buy him socks and underwear

my bf never buys any new underwear or socks he wears the same socks with holes in them month after month he says he wears them years before replacing them. his drawers all have holes too and when i tell him he should buy more he says he cant because he doesnt have money which is true we are looking for a job for him but its hard becuz of his record but i offer to buy them for him and he says no and that i shouldnt waste my money on silly things for him but he likes it if i buy him a record for his collection hes happy with that but wont let me spend some on some socks/underwear for him!!
